10 Times Leonard Hofstadter from The Big Bang Theory got into an awkward situation

The Big Bang Theory has been a hit since its premiere in September 2007. The show revolved around the lives of a group of characters- Johnny Galecki’s Leonard, Jim Parsons’ Sheldon, Simon Helberg’s Howard, Kunal Nayyar’s character Raj, and Kaley Cuoco’s character Penny.

The four men are super geniuses but socially awkward. One of the characters, Leonard Hofstadter, played by Johnny Galecki, finds himself in many of those socially awkward situations.

10) Leonard’s awkward proposal

In season 5, after getting back together, Leonard and Penny get intimate. Without considering the time or situation, Leonard proposes to Penny, ruining Penny's mood.

They later get into a small argument, as it was an awkward situation to propose and that too right after getting back together after months.

9) Leonard and Penny pretend to be in a relationship

In season 4 of The Big Bang Theory, Penny tells Leonard that her father kept on asking about him and if they were back together, and to stop him from nagging more, she told him that they were back together.

In front of her father, Leonard got overly intimate with her and did not stop kissing her, creating an awkward situation for Penny and himself.

8) Leonard flirts with a married FBI Agent

In season 4, FBI Agent Angela Page interviews all of Howard’s acquaintances. When she goes to interview Leonard, he starts to flirt with her. Talking in a different style and pretending to be confident, he used many tactics.

However, when the Agent reveals that she is married, Leonard gets embarrassed, creating an awkward situation that brings him back to his under-confident self.

7) Leonard pretends to know about football

In season 3 of The Big Bang Theory, Leonard tries to learn about football to fit in with Penny’s friends.

However, when he goes to watch the match, he sometimes misinterprets the football terms or explains the game using scientific terms, which confuses her friends and kills the mood.

He initially thinks that Penny is trying to hide him from her friends because she is embarrassed of him, but by watching the match with her friends, he creates an awkward situation for both Penny and himself.

6) Howard accidentally breaks Leonard’s glasses

In season 1, Howard accidentally breaks Leonard’s glasses in the movie theater. As he cannot enjoy the movie without his glasses, he goes back home to wear the spare ones.

However, due to his myopia, he can’t see anything clearly and keeps on hitting his head and body into things.

5) Leonard’s karaoke performance

In season 9 of The Big Bang Theory, Howard and Bernadette announce that she is pregnant. The men go to the bar to celebrate and later call Penny, Bernadette, and Amy to join them to sing Karaoke.

Everybody performs and all of them are funny. However, Raj and Leonard’s performance happens to be one of the most embarrassing as Penny and Sheldon share awkward looks while they perform. Even Bernadette tries to politely stop them from singing further, but they go on, creating an awkward situation.

4) Leonard and Sheldon meet Penny for the first time

In season 1, as they come back to their apartment, they notice Penny in the apartment across from theirs. The whole conversation between Penny and Leonard is awkward, as Leonard can’t talk to her with confidence.

His stumbling and stuttering words while making a simple conversation with Penny were one of his most awkward moments.

3) Leonard and Stephanie Barnett

Stephanie Barnett was Leonard's girlfriend in season 2 of The Big Bang Theory. The first time Leonard confesses that he likes her is a really awkward moment.

After they spend the night together, Leonard says that he wants to say something, to which Stephanie quips that there is that speech. Leonard gets confused and asks her what she is talking about. She replies that she knows what he is going to say- that he will say that he likes her but they should spend less time together and gradually stop meeting each other, and then they will break up.

The situation gets more awkward when Leonard confesses that he really likes her, right after her speech, and breaks down.

2) Leonard’s conversation with Dr. Elizabeth Plimpton

In season 3, a cosmological physicist named Elizabeth Plimpton from Princeton comes to visit Sheldon. Leonard, who is a huge fan of her work, gets awkward around her due to him not being able to hold a good conversation with women.

Most of his attempts to strike a conversation with her create embarrassing moments. After many failed attempts and stumbling words, he says that he is smart, and Sheldon asks him to get his act together, as it is embarrassing.

1) Penny finds out that Leonard read her journals

In season 9 of The Big Bang Theory, in an attempt to prove that he knows everything about Penny while she doesn’t even remember his birthday, he rivals too much.

As he shared too much information, she discovered that he read her private journals. Leonard gets into an awkward situation when Penny asks him if he has read her journals, and he tries lying to her.
