In Supernatural, two brothers, Sam and Dean, start their journey to find their father and eventually become hunters that help people suffering from the wrath of monsters. Sam and Dean can fight with anything, be it angels or God; there is no limit to their strength.

The saga of the Winchester brothers as they travel the American landscape fighting with monsters has resonated with the viewers. Though Dean and Sam were able to overcome this powerful fallen angel in Supernatural, this series featuring Tom Ellis is a deeper exploration of Lucifer’s journey with a twist. This American urban fantasy TV series follows Lucifer Morningstar, the Devil, as he abandons his throne and decides to reside amongst humans.

Lucifer opens a luxurious nightclub and lives a normal life. He becomes involved in a murder investigation with homicidal detective Chloe, who requests Lucifer's help, and they work together. Their relationship evolves throughout the series, and it is a key plot element. Seeing the Devil try to charm a human and failing miserably is humorous. However, their relationship evolves from professional to romantic with time. This series has several elements that are similar to Supernatural, which make it endearing for all the Supernatural lovers.


2)The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries is a series with similar tones to Supernatural. In the series, the main character, Elena, is struggling to return to her normal life after the death of her parents. She comes across a new student named Stefan. Stefan has recently come to the town and has a mysterious air about himself. Elena is intrigued by Stefan's charm and mystery.

She eventually finds out that Stefan is not a human but a centuries-old vampire. She also finds out that the town they live in has a history with supernatural beings. Elena's best friend, Bonnie, reveals that she is a witch with capabilities beyond any human. From vampires to witches to sirens, The Vampire Diaries has it all. So, if you are looking for a series with similar supernatural complexities, then The Vampire Diaries is a great option.


3)Crazyhead

Crazyhead is a TV series that centers around the unlikely friendship of two young women with the ability to see demon-possessed humans. Though their gifts have been looked down upon, we see that Amy is being treated by a psychotherapist for her hallucinations. These hallucinations turn out to be her ability to see when humans have been possessed by demons.

Rachael is a self-trained demon hunter with similar abilities to Amy. These two young women are then drawn into the world of demon-hunting. Together, they set out on a mission to exorcise demons on their way. The main similarity between Supernatural and Crazyhead is the theme of hunting. In Supernatural, we see Dean and Sam run around trying to save the world from supernatural beings in the same manner as Rachel and Amy do.


4)The Winchesters

In Supernatural, we have seen a few flashbacks into John and Mary’s life. Sam and Dean’s father, John Winchester, was not always a hunter. The Winchesters is the story of John Winchester and Mary Campbell meeting and starting their hunting journey. They wanted to find the answers behind their father’s disappearance.

This is the same way Dean and Sam started their journey after John disappeared. The series is told from Dean Winchester’s perspective, so the fans are able to witness the same excitement they had while watching Supernatural. John and Mary’s journey of fighting monsters together gives off similar tones to Sam and Dean’s journey. Though this series was canceled after only one season, it has left its mark on Supernatural fans.

The Originals is a spinoff of The Vampire Diaries. In The Originals, we see the Mikaelson family resides in New Orleans. They had originally built New Orleans. In this series, Klaus, Rebekah, and Elijah face a new challenge as Klaus’s former protege, Marcel, now rules the French Quarter. Marcel's power struggle with the Mikaelsons is similar to the ongoing battles between the Winchesters and various supernatural foes in Supernatural.

Marcel does not want to relinquish his control of the city, which causes the Mikaelsons to struggle to reclaim it. They form alliances with witches, werewolves, and other supernatural creatures, as Sam and Dean were forced to do with Crowley. The complicated family dynamics of The Originals are very similar to Supernatural’s. Both of these shows have an emphasis on familial bonds. It shows that family is a source of strength and sometimes conflict as well.


6)American Horror Story

Supernatural takes on a format where a new type of monster is explored in each episode. American Horror Story explores specific phobias. In Supernatural, we see clowns, haunted asylums, angels, demonic possessions, etc., with each creating moments of fear. However, in American Horror Story, each season goes deeper into a particular theme, providing an immersive experience. In this series, the group of friends struggles to fight against the powerful entity that threatens their town and even the world. Both Supernatural and Stranger Things have fights against supernatural beings. The core element of fighting against dark forces is also similar. In Supernatural, we see the bond between Sam and Dean, and the bond can also be seen in the bond of friendship and family in Stranger Things. Supernatural also has alternate realities, which are similar to Stranger Things.


10)Grimm

In Grimm, Nick Burkhardt, a homicidal detective finds out that he is a Grimm. Grimm comes from a line of hunters with the power to see the true form of mythical creatures. Here, Nick has to maintain balance using his powers with his partner Hank Griffin. In this journey, Nick learns about his Grimm heritage and the history of the mythical creatures.

Each of these creatures poses a significant threat that Nick has to overcome. Both these shows have a monster-of-the-week structure and have a constant flow of action and suspense. The mythology and folklore that we see in Supernatural can also be seen in Grimm.
