House of the Dragon has an immense fanbase for the phenomenal storyline, plot, and characters. Just like Game of Thrones, the show features a series of plot twists and progressive character growth.

The show's primary storyline is focused on the Targaryen bloodline and does incredible justice to its characters. Apart from dragon royalty, the stories of knights, dragonkeepers, and other house members are explored on the show.

Moreover, one must pay careful attention to each character's background and plot as it remains crucial to understand the rest of the story. While there are many likable characters on House of the Dragon, let's take a look at the ones who made a rather negative impression over the last two seasons

Hated characters from House of the Dragon ranked: best to worst

1) Alicent Hightower

Alicent Hightower is perhaps one of the most dexterous characters in House of the Dragon. Although she's initially portrayed as a loving mother, it is only later that her true colors are unveiled.

Not only is she abusive but she's incredibly crude to her once-good ally, Rhaenyra. Although her past was rather troubling, it was still no excuse for the manipulation, lies, and unbelievable mind games. Her slyness and agility is what places her right on top of this list.

2) Aemond Targaryen

When it comes to embodying a villain's aura, no one did it better than Aemond Targaryen, Alicent's son. The apple sure doesn't fall far from the tree because this boy's got some very bad traits from his mother. Aemond is quite simply a very merciless character with no remorse for his actions.

His vengeful nature often overtakes sound judgment which again ceases to exist in the presence of his anger. The lack of an eye for Aemond gave him all he needed to become incredibly hostile towards his enemies. This downright cruel nature of his is what made fans loathe this Targaryen.

3) Ser Otto Hightower

When it comes to being vindictive and having ulterior motives, Ser Otto Hightower takes the crown. A possible master of deception, Hightower initially presents himself as a hero or a typical good guy. Being the King's advisor meant that he never made any bad decisions.

However, fans were quickly proven wrong when the aftermath of his decisions was unveiled. Not only did he manage to completely poison the King's mind but also turned a critical situation to favor him.

4) Ser Criston Cole

At first glance, Ser Criston Cole appears to be the epitome of a knight in shining armor. He's strong, dashing, resilient, and has a total hero-complex. He's someone fans actually fell in love with until the truth of who he actually is came to light.

Not only is he a brutal killer, but he knows exactly how to hide behind a facade of fake emotions. Although he did resolve to take his own life and felt a semblance of remorse, it still doesn't excuse the fact that he mercilessly took a life. All because he wanted to save his job and honor.

5) The Crabfeeder

If there was a more peculiar-looking and chilling villain from the show - it's Craghas Drahar. Also known as 'The Crabfeeder,' he was one messed up character who had a rather fiendish way of finishing off people who offended him.

Drahar wasn't discriminative when it came to killing off his enemies hence landing him in the list. Circling back to his style of ending someone, he'd simply feed them to a cast of crabs who would happily feast on their victims - honestly quite disturbing and a terrible way to die.

6) Corlys Velaryon or 'Sea Snake'

As pretty as his dreadlocks may be, he was a polar opposite of a good person. He may come off as aloof and relaxed, but his mind is concocting ways that weasel him out of a tough spot. With the nickname Sea Snake, one can possibly comprehend what kind of a person he truly is.

Being a sly person and of power no less, he understands just how well to use a person. Moreover, he makes people who attempt to get into his good books actually work for it. While it might not be as evil as other baddies on the show, his nature still doesn't sit well with fans.

7) Ulf White

Ulf White lands himself at the bottom tier of the list because of almost how little he actually contributes to the story. Since he is an illegitimate child from the Targaryen bloodline, he doesn't actually possess the powers from his bloodline.

Moreover, he almost always doubts his identity and abilities as an individual and as a Targaryen. This repetitive measure is something that didn't do well with fans.

8) Mysaria

Mysaria is the embodiment of selfishness. Initially, she was but a pawn in a much grander scheme of things in Daemon's mind. Her esteemed customer is to blame for the ruthless and bitter person she grew to become.

Mysaria didn't come from much and hence did everything in her power to earn such a powerful Patreon. What makes her ranking so low is that her acts on House of the Dragon are justified due to her messy past in Westeros.

9) Alys Rivers

Alys Rivers is the one character fans remain very on the fence about because of how elusive she is! Since she is a fairly powerful witch, being a mysterious and reserved person would befit her. She's never fully revealed her true goals, especially since we don't know what cards she's got up her sleeves.

What's frustrating for fans is that her true abilities are very much under wraps leaving everyone including her fellow friends in the unknown. Would she turn out to be a villain or a hero? That part is still under speculation.

10) Aegon Targaryen

Lastly on the list is Aegon Targaryen II - one of the most notorious characters in House of the Dragon. He's perhaps most similar to Joffrey Baratheon in terms of cruelty and no sympathy. On the outside, to the common folk he portrays himself as a saint.

But, when it comes to members from within the castle walls, he's a tyrant with no heart or empathy. Ever so the abuser, he's displayed an acute amount of glee when he torments his servers. However, after a life-altering change, he realizes the gravity of his actions and very slowly develops a soft spot.

There's so much more yet to come on House of the Dragon given it is still at the cusp of a beginning. What more friends or foes would emerge? Only time will tell.
