Furthermore, TV shows have given us various types of sibling rivalries, from non-threatening, relatable sibling rivalries to ones where resentment toward one sibling often ends in the death of the other.

Nathan and Lucas Scott from One Tree Hill have shown one of the best sibling rivalries. Although their relationship improves with time, their initial hatred and animosity toward each other is one of the highlights of One Tree Hill.

Nathan and Lucas’s father, Dan, was the main reason behind the unhealthy rivalry between the half-siblings, as he used one against the other. He put so much pressure on Nathan to become the best basketball player while ignoring Lucas completely. Furthermore, he also instigated Nathan to plot against Lucas when he joined the Ravens.

The fraternal twins from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Dennis and Deandra Reynolds, have a toxic and dysfunctional relationship. Even though they don’t like each other, they live together and have a codependent relationship.

They both bad-mouth each other and are not afraid of scheming against each other. In one instance, Dee planned to get Dennis drunk and make him believe that he slept with one of her actress friends, but they canceled the plan.

However, they also share some sweet moments in the show, for instance, when Dennis tells his sister that he loves her when he thinks they are going to die or when he is worried about Dee when she is in labor.

Stefan and Damon Salvatore had one of the most iconic sibling rivalries across TV shows. The brothers shared a good relationship until Katherine Pierce entered their lives. The animosity and rivalry from their love for Katherine caused many complications in their relationship.

In addition, Damon falling in love with Elena even after knowing his brother loved her further complicated their relationship. Their sibling relationship was never a straightforward one; it had several ups and downs, especially due to their falling for the same woman, even in different centuries, which caused conflicts, but they still supported and protected each other.

Quinn even hides that Daria is her older sister in school, introducing her as her cousin. Daria also doesn’t give up a chance to embarrass her younger sister by being present in places where Quinn is with her friends. Sasuke and Itachi Uchiha have one of the tragic sibling rivalries in the anime series Naruto: Shippuden. Sasuke hated Itachi since he was a child for destroying his whole clan and wanting to become far more powerful than his older brother to avenge the deaths of his family and loved ones.

However, after a gruesome battle between the brothers, Sasuke finds out that Itachi killed the whole clan because of orders from the elders of the Leaf village. By leaving him alive, Itachi left the task given to him incomplete. All of this knowledge after killing his own brother devastates Sasuke, ending his one-sided sibling rivalry.

Stranger Things has portrayed several sibling dynamics over the years. One of those iconic sibling duos is Lucas and Erica Sinclair. The constant bickering whenever they are in each other's presence but still working together when some life-threatening problem arises makes them a part of the list of best sibling rivalries in TV shows.

We have seen more of Erica since the last two seasons and her relationship with her older brother Lucas, as she doesn’t hold her tongue when insulting him and his friends, too. Bart and Lisa Simpson are two iconic characters that depict the most real and relatable portrayal of sibling relationships and sibling rivalries. They fought and often appeared to resent each other. For instance, when Lisa was tasked to babysit her siblings, including Bart, who is older than her. Bart didn’t take it well, and he threw a string of pranks on Lisa to prove that she was not good at the job.

However, there were also moments when they both showed care toward each other. For instance, when Bart bought a Bleedin Gums record for Lisa by spending $500.

Succession is one of the acclaimed series and revolves around the Roy family. The fight for their father’s business had sent the three siblings down a path of hatred and deceit.

Throughout the 4 seasons, Kendall, Roman, and Shiv fight with each other to gain control of their father’s company, Waystar, but it ultimately is given to Tom Wambsgans, leaving the siblings empty-handed with severed relationships.
