There are very few scenes in La Brea, that manage to capture Gavin’s sheer courage and love for his family more than his decision to take a metaphorical and literal leap of faith and jump head-fast into the sinkhole. The stakes could not be higher as his wife, Eve, and son, Josh, are lost in time, and the only way to reach them is to plunge into an uncharted abyss. While he stands at the precipice, Izzy, his daughter, pleads with him, "Dad, please. What if something happens to you?" His response, delivered with a mix of fear and determination, is simple yet powerful, "I have to do this. I have to bring them back." The tension builds as Gavin, despite every rational part of his mind screaming at him to stop, takes a deep breath and jumps, with his body twisting in freefall. It’s a breathtaking visual moment, but more importantly, an emotional one, as Gavin dives toward his family, toward answers, and his destiny.
