Shawn Corey Carter, known by the name Jay-Z, has filed a defamation lawsuit against the woman who accused him of sexual harassment and her lawyers, Tony Buzbee and David Fortney.
The first case was filed in 2024 when an Alabama woman accused Diddy and Jay-Z of sexually harassing her at age 13. The high-profile lawyer, Tony Buzbee, took the woman's case along with other women who have accused Diddy in the past months of sexual harassment.
However, Jay-Z denied all the allegations made against him by the woman and Tony Buzbee. The rapper also claimed that Buzbee is trying to take advantage of his status. Jay-Z's entertainment company, Roc Nation, also uploaded a statement on X, saying:
"It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!"
The statement further said:
"You have made a terrible error in judgment thinking that all "celebrities" are the same."
Tony Buzbee replies to Jay-Z's statement, calling him a bully
After Jay-Z's statement, posted by Roc Nation, Tony Buzbee also took to his social media in December to reply to Jay-Z. In his tweet, the attorney said:
"Mr. Carter has not only sued me, but he has tried to bully and harass me and this plaintiff. His conduct has had the opposite impact. She is emboldened. I’m very proud of her resolve. As far as the allegations in the complaint filed, we will let the filing speak for itself and will litigate the facts in court, not in the media."
However, the woman who accused Jay-Z took back her case in February after mistakes in her story were found, including naming people wrongly and describing the events incorrectly. According to Tony Buzbee, another firm reviewed the case before referring it to him, and the woman still stands by her claims. He also added that they are continuing to verify the details.
On Monday, March 3, Jay-Z's lawyer, Alex Spiro, filed another lawsuit in the federal court of Alabama against the woman and her lawyers, Tony Buzbee and David Fortney.
According to Jay-Z, the previous court cases filed by the woman and Buzbee have damaged his reputation and relationships and cost him a $20 million loss through Roc Nation. However, there’s no report on exactly how Roc Nation lost the $20 million. The representatives and attorney of Jay-Z haven't given a statement on the same.
Tony Buzbee is still taking legal action against Diddy. According to his recent Instagram post uploaded on March 1, his firm filed eight more cases in New York, accusing Diddy of sexual assault and exploitation from 1997 to 2007. Buzbee says more cases will be filed in other states soon.
