Irish singer and comedian Garron Noone released a video on his social media accounts surrounding immigration in Ireland. Noone's video comes after MMA fighter Conor McGregor's meeting with Donald Trump on March 17, 2025. McGregor reportedly wanted to "raise issues" for the people of Ireland.
Conor made controversial comments about the government and the people's "money," which were later dismissed by the Irish government. In his video, Garron noted that he has been asked by multiple followers to share his thoughts on McGregor's visit to the White House. He noted that he doesn't like to make videos on "serious issues" as it is not "useful." He said,
Noone claimed there is "absolutely" an "immigration issue in Ireland." He added,
“There absolutely is an immigration issue in Ireland. That doesn't mean that people feel like we shouldn't take the refugees that we're able to take. It doesn't mean that people feel like people shouldn't be able to come here for better opportunities. The systems that we have in place are being taken advantage of, and that is plain to see. And the government continually does not allow people to express their concerns about that"
He claimed that,
"Ireland has become one of the richest countries in the world, while most people’s quality of life is going down.”
Shortly after his video was released, Garron Noone faced intense backlash, which eventually led him to deactivate all his social media accounts.
“I am not anti-immigration," Garron Noone addresses his followers after recent controversial video
In his video, Garron Noone said that he would need a lot of time to speak about the issue at hand and revealed his dislike for Conor McGregor. Per BBC, Simon Harris, Irish deputy prime minister, revealed Conor visited Donald Trump in a "personal capacity," and he doesn't represent the country in any official capacity.
Garron Noone ended his video by saying that "towns and cities" have become much "less safe." He added,
“Now, no doubt, a lot of people in the comments are going to completely misconstrue what I’ve said here, but that’s the internet for you.”
His video was filled with backlash comments, which prompted him to release another video addressing his followers. He released a follow-up video and expressed his disappointment,
"If we can’t discuss those things openly, if people are regulated to talking about it in echo chambers and only really hearing about those concerns from more extreme people, that makes everything worse."
Garron Noone added that this can "make things extreme" and lead to other things, including "racism." He ended the video by stating,
“I am not anti-immigration. Absolutely crazy to think that.”
Shortly after, the comedian deactivated all his social media accounts.
Garron Noone had a sizable following on his social media accounts, with more than two million followers on Instagram and 1.5 million on TikTok. While he appeared to give a disclaimer in his video that it is not "useful" for him to talk about "serious issues" on social media, his comment section was reportedly filled with hate comments.
When it comes to controversial topics, the internet can be unforgiving and can pull down a creator. While it is unclear if Noone will reactivate his accounts, the comedian has for now exited social media.
