Amid the Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron controversy, family members of the late actress Sulli have raised concerns regarding a movie in which she starred alongside Soo-hyun. Sulli was a late South Korean actress and singer who tragically took her own life in October 2019.
Prior to her tragic death in 2019, she was known for her role in the Punch Lady movie and as a member of the K-pop group f(X). On March 28, 2025, per reports from Sports Khunghyang, Sulli’s older brother called out the embattled actor and director Lee Sa-rang over a nude bed scene involving Sulli and Soo-hyun in the 2017 movie Real.
The late actress’ relative alleged that some intimate scenes were not part of the original script and questioned why they were included later. The latest allegations mounted controversy on the Queen of Tears actor, who is also under fire for allegedly dating the late actress Kim Sae-Ron when she was a minor.
Kim Soo-hyun, in a March 31, 2025, press conference, denied allegations that he dated Sae-ron as a minor.
What were the questions raised by Sulli’s brother regarding the Real movie
The late actress’ brother claimed he became aware of the Real movie's irregularities at his sister’s funeral. He added that the nude bed scene was not originally included in the script and called for the Queen of Tears actor to answer:
"I learned from the testimony of the staff and actors at the funeral that the bed scene between Sulli and Kim Soohyun was not originally included in the script. What is Kim Soohyun's position on this?"
Sulli’s brother also claimed that a body double was present at the scene but wasn’t used as witnesses had reportedly confirmed such:
"There was a stand-in actress for Sulli's nude scenes during filming, and she was on set. Please answer the question about why you persuaded Sulli to do the bed scene and nude scenes instead of using a substitute actress."
The late actress’ relatives also discussed the state of her mental health after filming Real. Sports Kyunyang also reported that her family members claimed that she sought psychiatric treatment after the movie and told close friends that she would never act in another movie.
Sulli’s family reportedly made references to the ongoing controversy regarding Kim Sae-ron and extended their condolences to the late singer’s family:
"We have spent the past six years in great sorrow and in tears, but we have also felt a lot of gratitude for the support and consideration many people have given us. We could not just ignore Kim Sae Ron’s death as if it didn’t have any relation to us. We extend our deepest condolences to her bereaved family. We urge that [Kim Soo Hyun and Lee Ro Be] address these issues."
Kim Soo-hyun has not responded directly to the claims made by Sulli’s family. His agency, Gold Medalist, released a statement that they were looking into the matter.
