Conor McGregor, an Irish mixed martial artist, visited the White House to meet Donald Trump on March 17. The 36-year-old went there on St. Patrick's Day to talk about Ireland's problems, including illegal immigration.
In his speech, McGregor said,
"What is going on in Ireland is a travesty. Our government is a government of zero action with zero accountability. You know our money is being spent on overseas issues that have nothing to do with the Irish people."
He further added,
"The illegal immigration racket is running ravage on the country. There are rural towns in Ireland that have been overrun in one swoop. They've become a minority in one swoop. So issues need to be addressed, and the 40 million Irish Americans, as I said, need to hear this."
The speech video was further posted by Elon Musk on his X account, who also met Conor McGregor on his visit to the White House.
Who is Conor McGregor?

Conor McGregor, born in 1988, is a former MMA artist who took retirement in 2019. He is also a two-time UFC Championship winner who won his first UFC Featherweight Championship in 2016 and his second UFC Lightweight Championship in 2016.
However, Conor McGregor has been named in multiple controversies, including assault, r*pe, and driving offenses. He has also made comments about immigration, race, and riots during the 2023 Dublin riots that caused controversy. Additionally, the Irish High Court accused him of raping and assaulting a woman in 2018 and ordered him to pay a fine of €1,500,000.
The case was filed in 2024, after which McGregor lost several deals as well as his reputation among the brands.
Ireland's Prime Minister Micheál Martin comments on Conor McGregor's statement
After Conor McGregor gave his statement standing against the Irish government in the White House, Prime Minister Micheál Martin soon replied to him on his X account, stating,
"St. Patrick’s Day around the world is a day rooted in community, humanity, friendship and fellowship. Conor McGregor’s remarks are wrong, and do not reflect the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, or the views of the people of Ireland."
While Micheál Martin stood against the statement given by Conor McGregor, Donald Trump seems to be liking the MMA star on the other side.
In conversation with the Prime Minister of Ireland, Donald Trump, in reference to the MMA star, said,
"I do happen to like your fighter. He's got the best tattoos that I've ever seen."
He further praised Ireland fighters, saying,
"Ireland has always had a lot of good fighters. You know why because they are tough people. They are smart people, and they are passionate people."
Many people suspect McGregor's White House rant was a move to gain support, as he has hinted at running for Irish president in October.
Along with Donald Trump, Conor McGregor also met Elon Musk, Mark Burnett, and Secretary Kennedy in the White House.
