Brotherchu, also known as Donald Slydell Jr., was a 27-year-old content creator. The Slydell family of TikTok met a tragic carjacking incident on March 11 that led to his death. TophiaChu, Donald's sister, uploaded an Instagram story the same day, announcing her brother's demise. In the story, she can be heard crying, panic-stricken. She says:
"Oh my god, guys, my family was shot. They killed my brother; my brother is dead. Oh my god, my family took the car. He stole the car…. I have nobody. Why did they do this? My mom might be dead. I shouldn't have ever left her. I'm sorry."
She also added text to the Instagram story that said:
"I called the cops yall right away. My family from what I know they said is at the hospital idk if their alive. My brother looked unalived at the drivers seat."
According to the police investigation, the carjacking took place around 3 - 3:30 a.m. According to the sister's statement, the killer was trying to steal the car and, while trying to do so, shot Brotherchu, which led to his death.
The incident took place near Montgomery Park in Albuquerque. While Brotherchu died instantly, his mother was wounded. A security guard from a nearby apartment heard cries for help. He came forward to help the victims and shot the suspect.
Who was Brotherchu?
Brotherchu was a member of the famous Slydell family of TikTok. He also had a YouTube channel that he operated by the name Hershey505. Hershey was his dog's name. In the channel, he used to stream games like Dragon Ball Z, NBA, Tomb Raider, WWE, Monopoly, GTA San Andreas, and many others. However, he posted his last video on November 6, 2023, which shows he wasn’t very active on YouTube.
During Tophia’s livestream in 2025, people heard Grindr notifications from Brotherchu’s phone. Since Grindr is an app made for the LGBTQ+ community, some thought he might be part of the community. Later, his ex-girlfriend, Angie, also said that it was true. However, Brotherchu never confirmed it.
Angie also made abuse allegations against him. He was accused of doxxing, a hit-and-run incident, and texting a minor while pretending to be 16. Brotherchu’s car was the Slydell family's main shelter during their second time being homeless.
After the incident, Brotherchu, Mamachu, and the shooter were taken to the hospital. However, according to Tophia's story and the police's statement, Brotherchu was declared dead.
The local car community is raising funds for Donald's funeral. A user on Facebook, @CJ Russel, wrote on his account:
"Honda or Mustang symbols will be 60$ with all my profits going towards laying Donald Slydell to rest. Please spread the word because I know his family is gonna need the help! I am available Friday through Tuesday 12-9pm at Iron Anchor Tattoo Parlour."
A Facebook page with the name New Mexico Motor Events added Donald's car photo with the caption:
"In Memory of Our Fallen Community Members We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of two members of our event family. We knew them only as friendly and fun participants who brought joy and positive energy to our gatherings. Their presence will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with their loved ones during this difficult time. As a community, we stand together in support and remembrance."
According to the police statement, Mamachu is now in a stable condition. Fans are also showing support for the Slydell family in Tophia's comment section.
