Amy Gleason was announced as the new acting administrator of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on February 25. Gleason has previously worked at the United States Digital Service (USDS) as a Digital Services Expert.

The USDS group was established in 2014. However, in January 2025, by the order of President Trump, the United States Digital Service (USDS) was renamed into a new group called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The group aims to cut costs and make government work better.

Before working at the USDS in 2018, Amy Gleason had also worked at Cure JM Foundation, Care Sync, and Allscripts.

She also joined Cure JM Foundation in 2014 as a vice president, which was based in Florida. The Obama White House Archives also gave the reason behind Amy joining the healthcare industry by stating:

"In June 2010, her daughter was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder, which opened her eyes to an entirely new set of challenges in the healthcare system. In her role as caregiver, she was responsible for keeping her daughter’s care organized, efficient, and effective."

They further described her role in CareSync and Cure JM Foundation by adding:

"As the Chief Operating Officer of CareSync, Amy draws on these experiences to help patients and their families better coordinate care and improve health outcomes. Additionally, Amy proudly volunteers as the Vice President of Research for the Cure JM Foundation, a nonprofit that funds research, raises awareness, and supports families of children with Juvenile Myositis."

Amy Gleason left CareSync and Cure JM Foundation in 2018 and joined the United States Digital Service, the White House, now DOGE, as a Digital Services Expert. She served her role for three years before joining Main Street Health, a healthcare company, and Russell Street Ventures as a Chief Product Officer in 2021.

Amy also started her own company, Gleason Strategies, in 2018, where she works as a consultant presently.

After leaving the Chief Product Officer role in 2024, Gleason rejoined the United States Digital Service, now renamed as the Department of Government Efficiency, in January 2025 as a senior advisor.

Amy Gleason has delivered a TEDx Talk on the 360° view of patient history, where she discusses patient information management. The full video is available on TED's website and YouTube.
