Atlanta rapper Deamonte Kendrick, known by his stage name, Yak Gotti, was arrested in 2022. He was allegedly involved in the YFL trial, with the case being centred on rapper Young Thug. In a new update, Kendrick will reportedly be released from jail after he pleaded guilty on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. According to the Atlanta Journal, the rapper had previously not been found guilty of 'm*rder, racketeering, and other charges" during the RICO trial.

However, the rapper was held due to "contraband" and allegedly assaulting another jail inmate in June 2024. Yak Gotti was cleared of all charges in exchange for a plea agreement. The rapper was reportedly sentenced to "12 years" to serve and 9 months of credit.

He reportedly will be on probation for the remaining sentence, and it will be terminated after five years if there are no revocations. Kendrick celebrated his win with his family and told the prosecutors he was "ready to go home."

Yak Gotti was arrested along with rapper Young Thug in Georgia's longest-running RICO trial. The latter was released last year in exchange for a plea agreement. Gotti will be released from jail and was wished good luck by the judge for an upcoming album. Adam Abatte, prosecutor at Fulton County, cautioned Gotti on using social media and against "promoting gangs". He told Gotti,

"Just don't post you hate anyone."

Bruce Harvey, Yak Gotti's attorney, noted that the rapper would be able to see his family, including his 10-year-old daughter. He said,

“He went through that grueling trial, and he was finally acquitted. It’s time to let him out so he can see his family and be a productive member of the community.”

Yak Gotti's other attorney, Nicole Westmoreland, described his "brutal" trial and fight for "freedom. She noted,

“At the end of the day Mr. Kendrick was found not guilty of all the charges, but he still had to sit in a jail cell day and night. We’re happy it’s over, and he’s happy it’s over so he gets a chance to move on with his life.”

The rapper was spotted leaving the Fulton County Jail and spoke to the media about his release. He described being "reborn" and expressed gratitude towards his friends, family, and supporters. He said,

"It's just another chance at life and I promise I won't let the people who supported me down and let's get it."

Yak Gotti is ready to spend "another chance at life" with his family and friends and is set to release a new album. The official details of the album have not been disclosed and are expected to be released soon.

In other news, the Fulton County District Attorney's Office had asked authorities to revoke Young Thug's probation and send him to jail over his social media post, which reportedly intimidated investigator Marissa Viverrito. In a new update, an Atlanta judge has declined the request to revoke probation and warned Thug about using social media.
