The Stranger Things actress recently opened up about being called out for her accent in her early career. Millie Bobby Brown got the role of Eleven when she was twelve years old.

The actress was recently invited to the SmartLess podcast, which was being hosted by Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes. In the podcast, she explained how people had a problem with her accent.

She further shuts down the critics by adding,

"You want me to be an actor, you want me to play these characters, but you expect me not to morph into people. What I hear is what I do, and it's all a part of it."

In the recent SmartLess podcast, the host praised Millie's accent by saying,

"You go in and out (switching accents), it's really cool, actually."

To this, Millie replied with,

"That was such a huge thing for a minute. I actually call it the accent gate because it's like so frustrating because that was everywhere for a second, like everyone was talking about my accent, and they had a real problem about it."

She further explained the reason behind her switch in accents by adding,

"I'm married to an American. When I'm around his family, I immediately go into an American accent, but then I was just in England, and then the second I hear my mom and dad's accent, I just go right back."

Brown also revealed that she gave her Stranger Things interview on Skype in an American accent by adding,

"I did an American accent the whole time because I didn't want them to know I was British. They had no idea I was British. I basically wanted them to know that I could hold an American accent for that long without them knowing so they could rely on me."

She strongly defended herself and responded to the critics who commented on her accent. However, this is not the first time that the actress has slammed the critics. Brown has previously also opened up and taken names of the journalists who have commented on her appearance.
