Trouble, the 34-year-old rapper shot in 2022 during a home invasion, has gotten justice as his killer has been sentenced to twenty years in jail.

Mariel Semonte Orr, known by his stage name Trouble, is well-known for his track Bring It Back, which was released in 2017 and featured Drake. On Friday, March 21, 2025, the accused, Jamichael Jones, pleaded guilty in the Rockdale County Superior courtroom.

A couple of days after the shooting on June 7, Jones surrendered himself to the police, and nearly three years later, he has been sentenced for the crime committed.

Details of Trouble's death

The news of Trouble's death was tragic as the authorities found the rapper lying on the ground outside the Lake St. James apartment complex in Conyers in the early hours of June 5, 2022. He had a gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital, where he was declared dead because of the injuries.

The tragic incident unfolded when Trouble was with his female friend in her apartment, and Jones forcefully came inside and started punching the woman. What followed next was a fight between Jones and Trouble, during which Jones pulled out a handgun, shot Trouble, and ran away from the scene.

According to the authorities, the deputies in the Rockdale Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call from Trouble's friend, and when they reached her, they found her visibly injured.

The authorities also stated that according to the surveillance footage they found, they could see Jones arriving and leaving the apartment in his car.

Jones gets sentenced to 20 years in prison

Jones faced charges of home invasion, felony murder, and assault. He was sentenced on Friday, although the trial was supposed to begin on Monday because of the plea deal, it will be avoided altogether. It is also known that Jones didn't know Trouble, and his dispute was with the rapper's female friend.

Bruce Harvey and Doug Weinstein were serving as Jones attorneys. A few days after the shooting incident, people gathered at the vigil at Coan Park in southeast Atlanta to pay the rapper their respects.

On June 13, 2022, Trouble was laid to rest.
