Trina, also known as Katrina Laverne Kearse, best known for her singles Shut Up" and Take It to da House, and her husband, Benjamin Kearse Jr., have recently been making headlines.

Benjamin, also known as Swurv, was taken into custody on March 20, 2025. He is charged with battery in connection with an incident that took place two years back.

The legal documents obtained by TMZ Hip Hop state that Benjamin hit a man, whose identity is not revealed, over a minor incident involving his car. He also allegedly followed him and broke the man's nose.

Benjamin appeared in the reality show Love & Hip Hop: Miami alongside Trina. The duo have been married since May 2024.

Details of the charges against Benjamin Kearse Jr

The incident dates back to July 2023, when Benjamin's black Dodge Charger suddenly stopped near a stop sign. A man was walking across the street, and because of Benjamin's car's sudden stop, the man’s hand accidentally hit the trunk of the car.

The man then walked up to Benjamin to explain what had happened, but Benjamin yelled at him and became angry and aggressive. The man then said that Benjamin followed him to a nearby house, got out of his car, and punched him many times, breaking his nose.

The police also found surveillance footage from nearby cameras, which reportedly backed up the man's story. The law enforcement then had a word with Benjamin and booked him at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami.

Trina and Benjamin met at a party ,and the two instantly connected. On the episode of Love & Hip Hop: Miami, Trina shared that she was drawn to him and wanted to get his number before leaving. Describing how she felt, the Still da Baddest singer said,

''The night we met was at a party. This amazing, handsome man walks in, and I look at Joy like, ‘Cousin, who’s that!?’ And Joy said, ‘I don’t know!’ I was not leaving that party without his number. Once I got the number, the rest is history.”

On May 22, 2024, they tied the knot in Miramar, Florida. Trina announced the news of their wedding at the Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards.

Trina recently released a new single titled On You. It features her husband, Benjamin, and Nia Amber. The track was released on February 14, 2025. The music video shows Trina and her husband, as it highlights their chemistry and partnership.

The track and the video were well-received by the fans; they appreciated her signature style along with the contemporary notes.

As of yet, it is not clear what the next steps in the case would be. In addition, Trina has not made any statements regarding the incident.
