After the journalist's comments on Millie Bobby Brown's appearance, the actress has finally responded to the critics in the new Instagram post. The Stranger Things actress turned 21 on February 19, when she uploaded a post with blonde hair. The actress has been quite active on her Instagram account, which attracted several comments from media sites and users who gave their opinions on her looks.
After weeks of silence, the Damsel actress uploaded an Instagram reel on March 3, calling out the people in the two-minute-forty-second video. She described her growth in the reel by adding:
"I started in this industry when I was 10 years old. I grew up in front of the world, and for some reason, people can’t seem to grow with me. Instead, they act like I’m supposed to stay frozen in time, like I should still look the way I did on Stranger Things Season 1. And because I don’t, I’m now a target."
Millie Bobby Brown takes a stand against reporters by calling them bullies
In the reel uploaded by Millie Bobby Brown on March 3, she called out reporters, including Lydia Hawken, John Ely, Cassie Carpenter, and Bethan Edwards, by saying:
"This isn’t journalism. This is bullying. The fact that adult writers are spending their time dissecting my face, my body, my choices, it’s disturbing. The fact that some of these articles are written by women makes it even worse. We always talk about supporting and uplifting young women, but when the time comes down to it, it seems easier to tear them down for clicks."
She further refused to apologize for her appearance by adding:
"I refuse to apologize for growing up. I refuse to make myself smaller to fit the unrealistic expectations of people who can’t handle seeing a girl become a woman. I will not be shamed for how I look, how I dress, or how I present myself."
The actress's actions received appreciation from her fans, who praised her for calling out the reporters by name. Celebrities and media personalities, including James Charles, Kevin Vechiatto, Rob Liefeld, Mckenna Grace, F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, and Millie's co-star Louis Partridge, also praised the actress for her gutsy move in the comments.
Millie Bobby Brown's co-star and best friend, Noah Schnapp, also posted the reel on his Instagram story with the caption:
"Can we stop shaming women for their appearance? It’s hard enough to be our own worst critic, and facing that judgment on a public scale only makes it worse. Millie is growing into herself beautifully. As a community, we need to do better. Real people are affected by the words we type. No one needs to change what they look like, what really needs to change is the way we treat one another."
Noah and Millie, co-stars in Stranger Things, are often seen sharing their friendship on social media. The actor also shares a good bond with Brown's husband, Jake Bongiovi.
Millie Bobby Brown's upcoming movie, The Electric State, is scheduled to release on March 14 on Netflix. She will also appear in the final season of Stranger Things, which is set to release in 2025.
