“Interesting it is supposed to be a tragedy not a comedy so that it interesting they would push that especially in these times where themes of division resonate. But I saw the 90s version first and that was theatrical in all the right was for me.” Another Reddit user said.

The show officially opened on October 24, 2024. It was initially scheduled to run till January 19, 2025, but was extended to February 16, 2025, according to a report in Broadway News. It was a 2-hour 10-minute play and included one intermission.

The press release for the revival describes it as:

“Left to their own devices in their parents’ world of violent ends, an impulsive pair of star-crossed lovers hurtle towards their inescapable fate. The intoxicating high of passion quickly descends into a brutal chaos that can only end one way.”

In the play, Rachel Zegler stars as Juliet, while Kit Connor plays Romeo. The cast also includes Gabby Beans as Mercutio/The Friar and Tommy Dorfman as The Nurse/Tybalt, Nihar Duvvuri as Balthazar, Sola Fadiran (Camelot) as Capulet/Lady Capulet, among others.
