Emily Ratajkowski has given her own take on the Blue Origin's space mission launched on April 14. Blue Origin, a company founded by Jeff Bezos, launched Flight NS-31 on April 14, carrying an all-female crew of six, which included Katy Perry, Lauren Sánchez, Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, Kerianne Flynn, and Gayle King.

Many praised Blue Origin for featuring women in space, while others questioned the purpose and effect of such high-profile flights.

On April 14, a supermodel, Emily Ratajkowski, added a video on social media, slamming Blue Origin for their mission. Her original words were,

"That space mission this morning? That’s end-time sh*t. Like, this is beyond parody. Saying that you care about Mother Earth and it’s about Mother Earth, and you’re going up in a spaceship that is built and paid for by a company that’s single-handedly destroying the planet?"

She ended her video by saying,

"Look at the state of the world and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space. For what? What was the marketing there? And then to try to make it like… I’m disgusted. Literally, I’m disgusted."

The internet reacts to Emily Ratajkowski's video criticizing Blue Origin's NS-31 mission

An account on X (formerly Twitter), @PopCrave, uploaded Emily Ratajkowski's video, which gained attention from Twitter users.

The internet didn't take time to express their reactions in the comments. Let's take a look at them.

A user, @amirkdev, commented,

"She's got a point though. Seems kinda tone-deaf to be joyriding to space with all the real problems here."

Another user, @zeeaurav, wrote,

"good to see some sensible celebrity"

Another user, @houseoflio, posted,

"she’s right. multiple lifetimes over of CO2 emissions were released from just this short flight. recreational space travel is inherently unethical."

One more user, @breathinfyss, added,

"I don’t know who she is but she ate"

While many supported Emily Ratajkowski, the model also faced criticism from internet users.

A user, @jayjayhibbs, commented,

"Coming from someone who travels by private jet btw 🤡 she’s just jealous she never got an invite"

Another user, @UygarNFT, wrote,

"I don't know who she is but surely oversensitive. I hope she is aware of her carbon footprint."

One more user, @iamdopeaxf, added,

"Yet, she models for fashion houses that slaughter all kinds of animals??? And then wears them down a runway girl pick your poison"

Blue Origin claims to use reusable and minimal-maintenance equipment

While Emily Ratajkowski's statement has created controversy over whether Blue Origin's new mission left a negative impact on Earth, there is no clear evidence of the same as of now.

According to Blue Origin,

"The New Shepard system has been designed for operational reusability and minimal maintenance between flights to decrease the cost of access to space and reduce waste. Nearly 99% of New Shepard's dry mass is reused, including the booster, capsule, ring fin, engine, landing gear, and parachutes. New Shepard's BE-3PM engine is fueled by highly efficient liquid oxygen and hydrogen."

As per the company, New Shepard's engine only produces water vapor and no carbon emissions while flying.

The Blue Origin's flight launched from West Texas and stayed in the space for around 11 minutes. As of now, the crew of six has safely returned to Earth.
