Weezer bassist Scott Shriner's wife, Jillian Lauren Shriner, was shot by the police on Moday afternoon in the aftermath of a wild car chase, and later arrested for attempted murder, according to Page Six.

Around 3:25 p.m., the police were involved in a hit-and-run investigation in the Eagle Rock neighborhood, according to a statement released by LAPD. Authorities reportedly put up a cordon in the area after a suspect allegedly ran from a three-car crash on the neighboring 134 expressway.

The suspect, one of three who left the area on foot, had scaled a highway embankment, and ended up on a residential street. He tried blending with the neighborhood by taking off his clothes down to his boxers and jumping into a pool nearby, but was unsuccessful, according to a New York Post report.

At that point, according to the authorities, Scott Shriner's 51-year-old wife emerged from her house with a pistol. Authorities claim that after repeatedly ordering the woman to drop her firearm, the police opened fire on her when she pointed the gun at them. She was later identified as Jillian Lauren Shriner.

Despite being shot, Jillian was able to flee inside her house. Shortly later, she returned outside with another lady, identified as her babysitter. They were both arrested. Jillian had no connection to the first hit-and-run, according to subsequent confirmation by the police.

She was discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. She wasn't directly engaged in the original crime, but after the run-in with the police, she was booked for attempted murder, according to a TMZ report quoted by New York Post

Additionally, a 9-millimeter pistol was seized from the residence by the responding law enforcement. The gunshot incident took place outside the couple's Los Angeles residence.
