Jeffery Lamar Williams II, popularly recognized as Young Thug, has been under legal surveillance beginning in 2022. The rapper was first reportedly arrested in May 2022 for being linked to potential criminal activity associated with the Young Slime Life (YSL). Young's trial is reportedly one of the most long-standing criminal trials in Georgia, continuing to date.

In October 2024, the rapper accepted the plea to gun- and drug-related charges and was sentenced to serve 15 years of probation. In a new turn of events, a new filing by the Fulton County District Attorney's Office is reportedly revoking his probation due to a now-deleted social media post. The post shared by X user No Jumper shows Young calling investigator Marissa Viverito the "biggest liar" after the latter's testimony in the new RICO trial on March 31, 2025.

Williams reportedly responded to the motion and wrote on X,

“I don’t make treats to people I’m a good person, I would never condone anyone threatening anyone or definitely participate in threatening anyone. I’m all about peace and love."

While it is unclear what prompted Young Thug to post about DA Merissa Viverito, the latter was formerly linked to the former's arrest in 2022. Young Thug has reportedly responded to the Fulton County District Attorney's Office's new filing on April 2, 2025. According to Channel 2, the motion reads,

“Since the sentencing, the Defendant has engaged in conduct that threatens the safety of witnesses and prosecutors, compromises ongoing legal proceedings, and warrants immediate revocation of probation.”

The prosecutors arrested Thug for his post about Merissa Viverito and associated social media activity,

“demonstrated a blatant disregard for the law, the safety of witnesses, and the integrity of judicial proceedings.”

According to Variety, his post snowballed, leading to Viverito's and her parents' addresses being posted online. In a statement shared with Variety, Young Thug's attorney, Brian Steel, described the "motion" as "baseless." He added,

"While intimidation and threats of violence are never appropriate, Jeffery Williams has done nothing wrong. We look forward to seeking a dismissal of this petition.”

Young Thug and his attorney have responded to the Fulton County District Attorney's Office's motion to revoke the former's probation. It is unclear if the petition will be dismissed or further used as evidence in the rapper's trial. While it had appeared that Thug's case had come to a standstill, this new petition may change its course.
