Paul Feig is addressing the rumored tension between his Another Simple Favor co-stars, Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick.
The director, who was spotted with the film's cast in Austin, Texas, on Friday, March 7, slammed the rumors that the two were uncomfortable with each other while filming. His statement comes a day after YouTuber Melanie King took to X to share a photo of Lively and Kendrick, alleging that the former was "terrified to walk the carpet". At the same time, Kendrick, 39, "never wants to work with [Lively] again."
However, Paul Feig took to X to refute these rumors in a simple statement:
"Um … you’re wrong."
However, fans have since begun responding to him with dissent, with many speculating that the two actresses have been "off" with each other throughout promotions for the film. Here's what one user said, for instance:
"You have a right to your opinion, but so do we. She may have been a joy to work with, BUT that doesn’t change the facts."
Scores online echoed the sentiments, though a handful claimed these were rumors. Here's what the rest of X is saying:
"She’s right and you know it !" someone penned.
"Love to see you sticking up for Blake against the clickbait, & I feel sorry that the cast's pride at promoting this movie must be overshadowed by knowing every innocuous word or glance will be twisted for clicks. Very excited for the movie. I hear Anna & Blake are amazing in it," another chimed in.
"Amazing how people who aren’t in the room think they know everything," one more noted.
"i think anna kendrick not wanting to work with her checks out," yet another opined.
The rumor mill is seemingly rife with speculation, as the comments didn't end there:
"Come on Paul. Who knows better? You; who worked closely with both of them and are currently hanging out with them... OR an internet troll who is throwing stones from afar?" one user probed, sarcastically.
"thank u for sticking up for her, this witch hunt is insane," someone else chimed in.
"These people can’t be reasoned with. Spreading disinformation, making hating on a woman their brand, either for sport or clicks. It’s clear Anna was irritated by the journalist asking her baiting questions & these bottom feeders acting like it’s “evidence"," yet another penned.
"You wouldn’t be honest anyway, you’re just trying to sell a movie and save face," a fourth user claimed.
Users were visibly divided, and the prevailing sentiment remains unclear.

Just this Friday, while on the red carpet, Anna Kendrick brushed off all questions about her relationship with Lively. When asked by Entertainment Tonight about what it meant "to be working with Blake Lively again," she replied with a simple:
"Oh you know," before walking away to greet her fans.
When Lively was asked what it means “to be back with Anna,” she said:
“Oh, it’s the best! I’m so happy to be here.”
In another interview, Anna Kendrick was probed about how her new film was “being impacted by everything going on in the world," which was seemingly a reference to Lively's ongoing legal drama with It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. She replied, coyly, before walking away:
“Why? What happened? I did ayahuasca and the last year of my life has been gone. But I heard the movie’s amazing.”
Rumors that a rift may be brewing between Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively have been rife since 2018. Though in the past, the director has rubbished all these claims.
