Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are in a public dispute over their daughter, North West.
It started after Kanye West reportedly released a new song featuring North West, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, and his son. Kim reportedly attempted to block the track's release. She cited concern for their 11-year-old daughter's safety. In response, Kanye allegedly threatened 'war' over the matter in reported text messages shared with Kim.
The dispute began when Kanye West shared a snippet of his new song, 'Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine' on X (formerly Twitter), TMZ reports. It allegedly featured North West's voice. The track also includes Diddy and his son, Christian 'King' Combs. In the snippet, North is heard rapping:
"When you see me shining, then you see the light. Surrounded by fake friends I don’t even like."
While Kanye West seemed proud of his daughter's involvement in the new track, Kim Kardashian reportedly took legal action to prevent its release. Page Six's sources claim she sent cease-and-desist letters and argued that North's inclusion was unauthorized.
It should be noted that Diddy is currently facing federal sex trafficking allegations.
Nevertheless, Kanye West posted the song on X (formerly Twitter) on March 15, 2025. He deleted it the next day. Before removing the track, he posted a screenshot of the alleged text messages with Kim Kardashian, reports suggest.
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's alleged text messages
The Shade Room took to its official Instagram handle to share the alleged screenshots of Kim and Kanye's text exchange, captioning,
"#KanyeWest posts clip of song with Diddy and #ChristianCombs featuring #NorthWest. This comes after a slew of tweets where Kanye reveals #KimKardashian is the sole owner of North’s name and likeness. Kanye also posted a text conversation he allegedly had with Kim where she voiced her disapproval of North being on a track with Diddy, “for her safety.”"
Per the news outlet, the reported conversation between them was as follows:
Kanye West:
"I'm never speaking with you again."
Kim writes,
"So stop. I sent paper work so she wouldn’t be in the Diddy song to protect her. One person has to trademark! We agreed when they were born I would get all our kids names and trademarks. So no one else would take them."
Kanye West, also known as Ye, replies,
"Amend it, or I’m going to war. And neither of us will recover from the public fallout. You’re going to have to kill me."
Kim Kardashian reportedly sought mediation to prevent the alleged song's release. However, Kanye West refused to participate.
