MSNBC recently canceled Joy Reid’s The ReidOut in a major shakeup. After the reports of its cancellation emerged, The ReidOut had its final broadcast on Monday, February 24, 2025.
Following her departure from the network, Joy Reid spoke up during a Zoom interview with the ‘Win With Black Women’ panel. Reid talked about getting fired from the network and broke into tears mid-conversation. Her firing and the interview have drawn polarizing reactions on social media.
Comedian Terrence K. Williams also reacted to the clip of Reid crying. In his reaction video, Williams is seen wearing a MAGA (Make America Great Again) hat and eating pancakes while watching Reid’s interview. As the former MSNBC anchor talks about being “proud” of her show, Terrence K. Williams speaks,
“Well you can’t be proud of your show. You ain’t got no show no more. [laughs]”
He continued targeting Joy Reid and said,
“Joy, it is a joyful time that you will not be on TV anymore. You are one hateful person. All you did was tell lies, you were nothing, but fake news. And, you know, Black History Month is almost over, so this is a great way to end it – getting rid of you.”
Williams briefly talks about the pancakes he is having and further mocks Reid before ending the video.
Joy Reid reaffirmed her show’s stance on Win With Black Women Zoom interview
Reid spoke about her show during an appearance on Win With Black Women’s recent Zoom call. The political commentator and known Trump critic reflected upon her emotional situation after getting fired by MSNBC. She told Win With Black Women,
“I’ve been through every emotion, from, you know, anger, rage, disappointment, hurt, you know, feeling that, you know, guilt, you know, that I let my team lose their jobs. But in the end where I really land and where I've landed on today is just gratitude. Just pure gratitude.”
She talked about how her show had “value.” Reid got emotional but continued speaking about tackling many issues on her show. She proclaimed how The ReidOut reported on Black Lives Matter, immigrants, the President's actions, Gaza, and more. Joy Reid told,
“I am not sorry that I stood up for those things because those things are of god.”
Reid added,
“I'm just proud of my show. I'm proud of my little team. Who… the little team that could, I told them they were the Avengers. They were this little diverse team, who we constructed deliberately to represent every type of person in this country.”
She displayed her gratitude towards her viewers while talking about how proud she was of her work. Joy Reid assured that she would “keep doing” her work and declared that her voice had a future (hinting at her return).
After the cancellation of The ReidOut, Joy’s former colleague and MSNBC anchor, Rachel Maddow, also shared her opinion. On one of her recent shows, Maddow said,
“In all of the jobs I have had in all of the years I have been alive, there is no colleague for whom I have had more affection and more respect than Joy Reid.”
She further called out the network for its “mistake,” as she spoke,
“I do not want to lose her as a colleague here at MSNBC, and personally, I think it is a bad mistake to let her walk out the door. It is not my call and I understand that. But that’s what I think.”

The news of The ReidOut’s cancellation was first reported by The New York Times on February 23, 2025. After the show got canceled, President Trump also responded through his TruthSocial account, calling Joy Reid a “mentally obnoxious racist.” He also chastised MSNBC and Rachel Maddow in his post.
