Rapper Travis Scott has found himself in legal trouble after a person named Omar Muhanna filed a lawsuit against him. Muhanna alleged that one of the rapper’s bodyguards assaulted him at an event on August 17, 2024, in Manhattan. Scott was at the Fanatics Fest at the Javits Center for a concert.
According to a TMZ exclusive report from February 17, 2025, the plaintiff was violently assaulted by the rapper’s security personnel. Muhanna claimed that he was attacked without any reason or provocation, according to The Mirror US. Scott’s representatives called the lawsuit a sham.
Muhanna alleged that the security guard had a history of similar behavior and should not have been hired by the rapper. He is seeking damages for injuries and claimed that he was permanently injured following the attack. Nonetheless, the security guard denies provoking or causing the alleged assault.
A representative for Travis Scott stated that he was inside a restaurant at the time and was not involved. The lawsuit only accuses him of hiring the security company that employed the guard in question. In the lawsuit, Muhanna claimed that he was at Scott’s concert location when the incident happened.
In January 2025, Travis Scott, Future, and SZA met with a lawsuit from singer Victory Boyd for allegedly using her lyrics in their 2023 collaborative music Telekinesis. The lawsuit claimed that Victory’s 2019 song Like the Way It Sounds was used without permission.
The track Telekinesis from Scott’s 2023 album Utopia allegedly includes Victory’s original lyrics and melody. She previously shared the song with Kanye West and recorded a version called Ultrasounds with him, which she believes was later given to Scott.
Travis Scott was arrested in 2024 for alleged intoxication
In 2024, Travis Scott was arrested at a Miami Beach marina for allegedly being intoxicated and causing a disturbance on a charter boat. He was asked to leave multiple times before being taken into custody and later released on a $650 bond.
In 2021, a tragic incident happened at Travis Scott’s Astroworld festival where ten people lost their lives while others were left injured. Crowd surges occurred during his concert, leaving some attendees unable to escape.
Scott later stated he only realized the severity of the situation when a friend mentioned someone was receiving CPR. A grand jury ruled in June 2023 that no crime had occurred. Speaking about the incident with GQ Magazine in 2023, he said:
“Yeah, I always think about it. Those fans were like my family. You know, I love my fans to the utmost. It has its moments where it gets rough and…yeah. You just feel for those people. And their families.”
After the incident, Travis Scott released a statement on social media expressing his devastation and pledging full cooperation with the Houston Police Department’s investigation. In a live video, he mentioned that he would have stopped the concert had he realized the severity of the situation in the crowd.
He explained that whenever he notices an issue, he pauses the show to get help, but he could not have imagined how serious things had become during the event.
