Lil Durk, or Durk Devontay Banks, is an American rapper who is considered to be one of the first commercially successful Chicago-based drill rappers. Banks' rap career started thriving locally and then boomed in 2020 with Viral Moment hitting the Billboard Hot 100. Durk was nominated for a Grammy four times and won a Grammy for Best Melodic Rap Performance in 2024.
However, Lil Durk's career has not always been sunshine and rainbows. He has been involved in numerous criminal activities over the years. It started in 2011 when he was arrested on a weapons charge. Durk was in and out of jail in the following years, up till October 24, 2024. In October, he was arrested for an alleged murder-for-hire plot and is still in prison to this day.

"Durk Banks, 32, a.k.a. “Lil Durk,” “Blood,” and “Mustafa Abdul Malak,” of Chicago, is charged with one count of conspiracy, one count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death, and one count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death."
