In 2022, rapper Cardi B turned victorious in her $4 million defamation lawsuit against YouTuber Tasha K. On February 24, 2025, a settlement agreement was reached, requiring the rapper to receive nearly $1.2 million over five years as part of the bankruptcy resolution.

The rapper filed a defamation and libel lawsuit in March 2019, claiming that Tasha had spread false accusations about her, including allegations of drug use, a s*xually transmitted disease, and escort work.

However, according to Rolling Stone, Cardi B would receive monthly payments over five years. In the first year, the payment amount is $176,532, increasing to $318,653 in the final year. The total payout over the five years would exceed $1.17 million.

A judge approved the Chapter 11 reorganization plan. As part of the agreement, no content related to Cardi B would be posted on social media platforms or blogs. This also includes certain channels like The Wine Cellar Podcast and Tasha K Live. In a statement to Rolling Stone, the rapper’s lawyer, Lisa Moore, said:

“Today marks the end of a multi-year long chapter of lies, deception, and fraudulent conveyance on the part of Tasha K, her husband, and their entities. We are thrilled to put in place such an incredibly unprecedented and protective plan for Cardi.:

Moore continued:

“I assume you will see the debtor and her swill counsel selling this as a win. Trust me, for all of the reasons in the plan we insisted on to protect our client, that is not the case. We don’t believe the false tears, and we protect against them.”

Cardi B attempted to dismiss Tasha K’s bankruptcy case

According to HipHopDX, when Cardi won the lawsuit in 2022, the court ordered Tasha to remove over 20 defamatory videos about the rapper and refrain from posting about her in the future.

Later, the rapper attempted to have Tasha’s bankruptcy case dismissed, accusing her and her husband of deliberately delaying and obstructing efforts to collect the $3.9 million judgment.

Tasha responded in court, arguing that Cardi B’s attempt to dismiss the bankruptcy case was an effort to silence her. She claimed that the rapper was pushing for a non-disparagement clause that would severely impact her career. The rapper eventually withdrew her objection to the bankruptcy case, allowing the payment plan to proceed.

Her legal team, however, maintained that Tasha K had continuously acted in bad faith to avoid paying the defamation judgment and urged the court not to let her misuse the bankruptcy process.

According to Billboard, soon after Cardi B submitted her request to dismiss the case, the court-appointed trustee, who oversaw the bankruptcy process and helped establish a repayment plan, supported her claims. The trustee also filed a motion, recommending that the judge dismiss Tasha’s bankruptcy case.

Tasha K’s attorney, Chad Van Horn, stated that besides Cardi B, the YouTuber’s other unsecured creditors would receive about 30% of their approved claims. Van Horn explained that the resolution helped avoid lengthy legal battles, allowing Tasha to focus on her career while repaying debts in an organized manner.
