DJ Akademiks and social media personality YesJulz recently engaged in a heated exchange following a debate over Playboi Carti’s upcoming album, I Am Music. The controversy began when Akademiks claimed during a livestream that Kendrick Lamar played a significant role in shaping the project. YesJulz commented on this matter and Akademiks, who took it seriously, responded aggressively.
According to HotNewHipHop, Akademiks stated,
"Kendrick is creative directing the whole sh*t."
However, this claim was quickly disputed by F1LTHY, one of Carti’s longtime producers, who refuted Ak’s statement. F1LTHY, known for producing "All Red," took to X to clarify Lamar’s role, saying,
"Kendrick fam but he is NOT the creative director of this album," F1LTHY wrote on X. "This Carti album."
Who is YesJulz?
YesJulz is a talent manager and entrepreneur. She became famous in 2014 after organizing a Sprite Remix Party for LeBron James in Miami. She later started managing artists, including rapper 070 Shake, who appeared on albums by Kanye West, Pusha T, and Nas.
The media has called the entrepreneur "The Queen of Snapchat." She is a brand influencer, event producer, A&R, and publicist.
DJ Akademiks and YesJulz Clash Over Playboi Carti Album Claims
Akademiks addressed the pushback in his stream, dismissing F1LTHY’s involvement.
“No disrespect to F1LTHY, I don't know who the fuck F1LTHY is,” he said. “Kendrick is on the album. Whether it’s creative director, executive producer, I don’t give a fuck. I'm only going off what Carti told me.”
The situation got even more serious when the entrepreneur jumped into X with some harsh criticism of Akademiks. YesJulz complained that Akademiks didn't understand much about F1LTHY stuff.
“Not knowing F1LTHY is one of Carti’s main collaborators in 2025 as a journalist covering hip-hop is surely one way to admit you suck at your job,” she wrote.
Akademiks responded aggressively on his stream against the talent manager. His comments were filled with derogatory language.
DJ Akademiks responded,
"That f***ing w***e YesJulz even trying to talk to me? B***h, you spent half your f***ing life on your knees, getting your back blown out, and sucking c**k. Guzzling f***ing semen, you f***ing w***e! How dare you talk to me?! You done sucked up half the industry talking about Big Ak?! You f***ing w***e! I don't want to hear nothing from no w***e today, bruh. Sit your w***e a** [down]! Get some Listerine! F***ing c**k-sucking b***h, when it's d**k-sucking time, we'll call you! F**k!"
While Akademiks got very upset about what the entrepreneur said, the other side of her life has been tough as well and really taxing.
While people are still wringing their hands over who got credit for Kendrick Lamar's verse on the latest release, people do now have the album to decide for themselves if it's a great listen. Whether Lamar ended up playing a key creative role or not, 'I Am Music' is still a really big step forward and another great album in Playboi Carti's amazing discography journey.
