Rapper Mase, in an episode of the podcast It Is What It Is, revealed to co-hosts Cam’ron and Treasure Wilson that he was open to visiting incarcerated music mogul Sean Diddy Combs if he made it to the latter’s inmate visitation list.
Mase was signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records in 1996 and grew popular as Combs’ hypeman. He left the music label and later accused Diddy of withholding royalties and other entitlements.
During the podcast, Cam’ron asked Mase if he would go and visit Puff in jail, and the latter responded in the affirmative that he would visit him and make sure he was good. Cam’ron then jokingly asked why the Feel So Good rapper didn’t consider visiting the Bad Boy Records boss before his arrest.
“These are the times when you need people to check up and make sure you are good. And not that I condone anything that they are alleging him to have done,” Mase replied, before adding, “he didn’t do all bad, he did some good.”
Camron added:
“We definitely live in a country or society where it’s not innocent until proven guilty, it’s guilty till proven innocent. Some people already ostracized you, and put you under a microscope for things not knowing if you are guilty or not."
Mase stated:
“I’m not talking about the tapes stuff, I’m talking about the musical side. Giving me opportunities.”
When Cam’ron asked Mase if he thought Diddy was innocent, he replied that he didn’t know.
Mase’s career and relationship with Diddy explored
Following a booming career in Bad Boy Records with hit singles like Feel So Good and What You Want, the artist quit music in 1999 to become a pastor. He ended his musical hiatus in 2004 with the release of the Welcome Back album.
In 2009, he dropped two singles, Get It and Double Up. That same year, Mase was involved in a feud with Diddy, which prompted him to crash the music executive’s live session, demanding that he sign documents that absolved him from any obligation to the Bad Boy label.
In 2020, Mase alleged that Diddy had refused to sell him back his publishing rights, even though he offered to pay 2 million dollars for it. Diddy replied that Mase owed Bad Boy Records $3 million for an album project he never delivered.
In an interview with Billboard in September 2023, Diddy, when asked about his relationship with Mase, implied that they had reconciled their disputes as brothers
"You know, we’re brothers and brothers fight. I love him, and that’s it,"
In a March 7, 2025, episode of the, It Is What It Is podcast, rapper Mase revealed that he was prepared to drop an album on the first day of Diddy's trial in May 2025
