South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron was found dead at her residence in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on February 16, 2025. She was 24.
According to a report in The Korea Herald:
Kim's friend discovered her body at her house and called the police at around 4:50 p.m. Sunday. The police are investigating the cause of her death, but said they had not discovered a sign of a break-in as of press time.
Kim Sae-ron started her career as a child actor. She started appearing in films at the age of nine, according to Wikipedia. Some of the notable roles she played as a child actor are in the films A Brand New Life (2009) and The Man From Nowhere (2010).
Among Kim Sae-ron's popular leading roles is A Girl at My Door (2014). She was also cast in K-drama series such as Listen to My Heart (2011), The Queen's Classroom (2013), and Hi! School-Love On (2014). These were shows and films she starred in as a teenager. However, her first adult lead role as an actress was in the 2016 K-drama series, Secret Healer (2016).
Her latest and last work was her role as Cha Hyeon-ju in the South Korean action drama series, Bloodhounds.
Kim Sae-ron's personal and professional life
Kim Sae-ron has had a successful career in film and shows, and she won numerous awards, too. Her acting career started at the age of nine, but has now been cut short as she passed away at the age of 24.
In her professional life, Kim Sae-ron won awards such as the Blue Dragon Film Awards for Best New Actress in 2014, for her role in A Girl At My Door. She also won the MBC Drama Awards as Best Young Actress in 2013 for her role in A Queen's Classroom. In all, Kim Sae-ron has an impressive collection of 10 awards for different works.
Regarding her personal life, the Seoul-born actress was found driving under the influence (DUI) in May 2022 in Gangnam District, according to Wikipedia This drunk-driving incident led to the damage of public property, after which Kim Sae-ron issued a public apology on her Instagram account.
