As told by TMZ, the veteran actor was surrounded by his family and friends at the time of passing. He died on February 14, 2025, in a Las Vegas hospital. His family tells TMZ that he had been hospitalized for weeks due to respiratory issues, but his cause of death is yet to be determined.

According to TMZ, the family confirms that Mathew Modine, a Full Metal Jacket co-star with whom Kevyn Major Howard maintained a close relationship, was in contact with the late star shortly before his passing.

He was cast in his first major film role in Serial, where he worked alongside stars like Tuesday Weld, Martin Mull, Pamela Bellwood, Sally Kellerman, and Peter Bonez.

Kevyn Major Howard also starred in films like Death Wish II, Sudden Impact, Roadhouse 66, and War Party. He worked with notable names like Charles Bronson, Frank Sinatra, Mathew Modine, and Clint Eastwood. His most notable work is playing Rafterman in Full Metal Jacket.

Despite his success in acting, the late actor withdrew from the movie scene and chose a career as a photographer. His role as a paramedic back in 1996, Livers Ain't Cheap, was his last credit as an actor.
