On Monday, March 10, 2025, Korean media outlet, The JoongAng, reported the tragic death of the popular Korean celebrity, Choi Whee-sung. The K-pop singer and songwriter, Choi Whee-sung passed away at the age of 43 years old.
The idol was found dead in his house located in Gwangjin District, Eastern Seoul. As of this writing, Wheesung’s cause of death hasn’t been confirmed by the police agencies.
Choi Whee-sung, aka Realslow, kicked off his musical journey with the debut of his 2002 full-length record Like A Movie. Wheesung is known for tracks such as Insomnia (2009), and Heartsore Story (2011).

Many fans and other K-pop followers filled the internet with their tributes to the idol. While many seemed in shock with the sudden news of Wheesung’s demise, others remembered his contributions to the Korean music industry:

Choi Whee-sung, born February 5, 1982, is known as Wheesung or Realslow. He was an R&B singer, record producer, and musical theatre actor from Korea. Realslow became a ballad and R&B singer with singles like Can't You, Insomnia, and Even Thought Of Marriage.
After being charged for illegally using propofol in 2020, the singer faced harsh critcism from fans. He received a one-year sentence and 2-year ban due to his 2021 appellate trial.
The musician allegedly prioritized live performances over TV after the court verdict. As reported by The Straits Times, Wheesung was set to perform at Exco in Daegu on March 15.
