Mo3's manager, Brandon Rainwater, is recalling his final conversation with the rapper before his demise.
Rainwater recently sat down for an interview, where he reflected on his last phone call with his longtime client and the real reason the rapper's car came to a halt on the highway.
Brandon Rainwater served as the manager of the late Mo3. He was the executive producer of Outside and Broken Love, both of which have since been certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA. He also has his own label, Empire Records. He also has a cumulative following of one million across all his social media channels.
Everything we know about rapper Mo3's demise so far
The Texas rapper was slain in November 2020 at the age of 28. At the time, a man in a ski mask came up to him with a gun on the I-35 in Dallas. He tried to flee, though he was shot in the back several times. Just last month, Yella Breezy was arrested in connection with the case. He now stands accused of hiring a man named Kewon Dontrell White to execute the killing of the Texas rapper.
As reported by Hot New Hip Hop, not long after Yella Breezy was arrested, footage of the incident began circulating online. In it, the rapper can be seen halting his car and fleeing. The gunman can also be seen approaching him and opening fire. The video has since sparked questions about why the rapper stopped the car in the first place.
During his interview with Say Cheese!, Brandon Rainwater said of Mo3's death that he was on the phone with him at the time. He recalled sensing fear in the rapper's voice as he said,
“Right, they shoot.”
Rainwater recalled how he kept asking Mo3,
“Where you at?”
Rainwater recalled jumping out of his bed when he sensed what was happening, noting that at one point, he heard the paramedics arrive. He revealed that his heart sank when he heard them exclaim:
“WE CAN’T TOUCH IT, WE CAN’T TOUCH IT.”
He said, during the segment, that he learned Mo3 was still alive when he was on the way to the hospital, noting:
"They were working on him on the way to the hospital."
Speaking of the footage, Rainwater said:
"I don't know if the dude shot at something," he explained. "But the car went dead."
Yella Breezy's bond was set at $2 million after he got arrested, though in a few days, it was brought down to $750K. He was subsequently released shortly after.
