When did Papoose and Claressa Shields start dating? Lil Wayne comments on their relationship

Rapper Lil Wayne had a few words to say about Papoose, aka Shamele Mackie, and Claressa Shields’ relationship. During an interview with Rolling Stone, where he was also the cover star, Wayne learnt that Mackie was dating Shields after separating from Remy Ma. His reaction was:

“He like somebody that could beat his a**.”

Mackie and Shields were romantically linked since December 2024. Previously, Remy Ma accused Papoose of being unfaithful to her with Claressa Shields and publicly called out the boxer online. Shields quickly responded on X, challenging Remy to a fight and saying she was ready to take her on.

She later added that she wouldn’t let herself be pushed around, calling Remy bitter and angry, and said that Remy was only embarrassing herself. On December 12, 2025, Shields took to her X and posted:

“I can’t believe a 45 year old woman is crashing out like this.”

Her comment was followed by the Joker emoji, implying that it was a funny behavior. Remy Ma responded to the post, writing:

“Im not 45 YET! But you are 29 and I’ll just say this…you not aging like wine. AGAIN tho I’m not your enemy, tell ya boyfriend buy you some flowers & gifts. & he didn’t answer any of his phones cuz he was with his Cali girl this week.”

According to Hot97, Remy made some accusations against Shields, claiming that Shields spread false stories in the media. Papoose responded to these claims, accusing Remy of repeatedly being unfaithful in their relationship. He also said that he had wanted to end their marriage for some time.

Remy accused Mackie of domestic violence. She also claimed that he got her arrested. Papoose denied these accusations. He responded by posting a picture of Remy with another person. This person was a battle rapper named Eazy The Block Captain. Remy has reportedly been involved with him since last year.

Back in February 2025, Claressa candidly talked about her relationship during a live video. She said she was happy to be with someone who was ready to love her in return and described him as a genuinely kind person.

She also talked about the viral clip where Papoose was seen tying her shoe, explaining that she didn’t ask him to do it. It was he who wanted to make sure they were laced properly.

Shields said he was thoughtful and deserved someone great, which she believed she was. She added that both felt like they had improved their lives by being together, but more importantly, they were with someone they truly loved.

According to Vibe, in a December 2024 interview, Eazy claimed that Mackie had known about his relationship with Remy Ma for two years and was only pretending to be the victim to gain sympathy from the public.

Eazy explained that Papoose found out by secretly placing a recording device in Remy's car, which he called a strange and invasive move.
