Cody Rhodes says he is not mad about the black eye Travis Scott gave him, but says he has got a "receipt" coming his way.
The rapper got in the ring and talked smack about the wrestler before striking him, effectively rupturing his eardrum and giving him a black eye. The incident, which took place at the WWE Elimination Chamber in Toronto, has since sparked a frenzy online. In an interview with Complex on March 31, the Undisputed WWE Champion reflected on how he now feels about Scott:
“I am not mad so much, but I am looking, and my eyes are open for what we inevitably, what we’ll call a ‘receipt’,” Rhodes told the outlet. “If Travis Scott ever makes his way back into the WWE fray, maybe there’s a receipt for Travis.”
He added:
“Prior to this though, by the way, I was a Travis Scott fan. I bought those sneakers on [Sneaker Shopping].”

Cody Rhodes, who is slated for a bout against Cena at WrestleMania 41, told Complex of the day following the incident:
“The next day after the incident, I told everyone, ‘He didn’t hit me.’ I didn’t realize there was a fan video circulating of him hitting me with the power of a thousand suns and the noise deafening. And then I had a Tommy Boy situation where the entire side of my face was black and blue and I kept saying, ‘Oh no, I’m good. I’m good.’ And then I had a little flutter in the eardrum because it popped. Again, I’m a weirdo, this is going to sound so strange, and I apologize to your viewers and your listeners, but man, that’s wrestling. You know what I’m saying? Beat me up. I’m going to beat you up. That’s wrestling."
At the Elimination Chamber post-show press conference, The Rock divulged that the plan is for Scott and Cody Rhodes to wrestle in WWE.
“Yes, absolutely. That’s why we’re doing it. Long gaming. I love Travis. That’s my guy,” he said.
The Rock also shared the advice he gave Scott before the bout:
“He wanted to get, to steal a term, he wanted to get his hands bloody. I whispered to him as we were going out, ‘If you get your hands bloody, make it count. Make it count.’”
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter later reported that it was the slap Scott delivered to a laid-down Cody Rhodes that culminated in his injuries:
“That blow was apparently the one that legit broke Rhodes’ eardrum and left him with a black eye. As you can imagine, that got all kinds of heat backstage, with people noting that Scott shouldn’t have been out there nor put in that position in the first place. The one story is that Scott was told to make it look good but it was too good,” Meltzer stated.
WrestleMania 41 is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas on April 19 and 20, where Cody Rhodes will be announcing a new partnership between the WWE and Clash of Clans, Complex reported.
