Jennifer Hudson's attendance at the Tuesday New York Knicks game didn't turn out as expected, as the actress took a basketball to the face.
Jennifer Hudson, American actress, singer and show host, attended the New York Knicks vs. Golden State Warriors game on Tuesday, March 4 with her boyfriend Common. They were sitting courtside when all of a sudden, Knicks’ Miles McBride lost control of his ball, with the ball hitting the EGOT winner directly on the face.
Moments before, one commenter interrupted his colleague to shout out “Protect Jennifer Hudson!” The entire scene was captured in video and showcased the actress' glasses getting knocked off and her being shaken up by the unexpected onslaught. The footage continues with Mcbride retrieving the ball while also checking up on Jennifer.
The video also captured the “No One Gonna Love You” singer being protected by her boyfriend as he tries to shield her and shove the ball away before it hits her.
Hudson's reaction
After the hit, Hudson, who is often spotted attending games, quickly checks her glasses for damage and puts them away while shaking off the ambush and recovering quickly.
The commentators, however, recounted the entire incident as the footage was played on recap. In the chaotic clip you can hear them talk about the incident.
"Protect Jennifer Hudson!"- the first commenter said.
while the second hilariously commented,- "Oh no, not the glasses, those look real expensive, too."
The first commenter then said,- "Common is making sure everybody’s okay."
Talking about Hudson's boyfriend, whose real name is Lonnie Rashid Lynn. The couple had gone public with the relationship in 2024, and they have been rumoured to be dating since 2022.
The second commenter continued joking:
"Let me see what Common did. Did he protect her? No, no he didn’t."
It was later revealed after replaying the video that the rapper did, in fact, block the ball and prevented further damage.
