Was Casey Anthony convicted? 38-year-old re-emerges on TikTok with new career announcement

Casey Anthony, who was acquitted of the murder of her daughter in 2011, has recently joined TikTok and her post on the platform has elicited a negative reaction on social media. In the recently released TikTok post, the woman shared that she is "re-introducing herself". She revealed that she is going to advocate for herself and her daughter and introduced herself as a 'legal advocate'.

In the three-minute TikTok video, which has now garnered more than a million views, she said:

I’ve been in the legal field since 2011, and in this capacity I feel that it’s necessary, if I’m going to continue to operate appropriately as a legal advocate, that I start to advocate for myself and also advocate for my daughter.

According to reports, in 2008, Casey Anthony was charged with "first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child, and four counts of providing false information to police", in connection to the missing and later death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony.

A jury in 2011 found her guilty on "four counts of providing false information to police" but found her not guilty on other charges. Casey was sentenced to four years in jail but was released after 10 days as she received credits for the time she already served in jail.

Casey Anthony being found not guilty did not sit right with many people at the time and many believe that justice was not served to the 2-year-old Caylee Anthony, and hence, the video of Casey reintroducing herself has sparked outrage on social media platforms.

Why was Casey Anthony Arrested?

According to reports, on June 16, 2008, Casey left home with Caylee. A month later, on July 15, 2008, Cindy Anthony reported her granddaughter, Caylee Anthony, missing after she had not seen her for about a month. It is reported that Casey informed her parents that Caylee was with a nanny and that she was busy with work, during this period.

During the investigation, Casey's claim that the nanny kidnapped her daughter was found false, as the alleged nanny's apartment had been abandoned for more than 140 days. It was also revealed that Casey has not worked at Universal Studios, since she took maternity leave three years ago. According to CNN, her car trunk also reportedly smelled of human decomposition which the cadaver dog picked up, later an air sample test suggested the same.

According to reports, Casey was arrested and later, presented before a grand jury, who indicted her on multiple charges including murder, but Casey pleaded not guilty to all charges. On December 11, 2008, Caylee's remains were found in a 'laundry bag" with the skull wrapped with duct tape.

On July 5, 2011, the Jury found Casey not guilty on the charges of "murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child", but she was found guilty of "providing false information to police." On July 17, 2011, days after sentencing, she was released from jail.
