ExtraEmily has been banned from Twitch for 1 day following her incident of running a red light on stream without apology.

Emily Xuechun Zhang, better known by her streamer tag, ExtraEmily, had earlier posted a video wherein she ran through a red light without stopping. This had sparked quite a backlash for the Twitch streamer who has 460,000 Twitch followers, especially after she quite casually claimed,

O.K., no problem. That happens all the time. The stop lights are really long here…I usually just go past

Emily announced the ban on her Discord channel, though the official reasons were not quite mentioned. In her Discord post, she stated,

Hello everyone. It has come to my attention that I have been banned. It is due to the distracted driving which is very understandable. It is unfortunate timing as I was looking forward to the doggos but we will just have to go next year! I will keep trying my best to have fun content and improve from this mishap! I shall be back either tomorrow or Tuesday! Not sure what I am streaming yet. Thank you for the support and have a great rest of your weekend!

As soon as the clip started circulating, the popular streaming site dropped the ban less than 24 hours after the incident. No legal repercussions for the same have been announced or mentioned.

This is, however, not the first time the OTK member has been banned from Twitch, as on October 13, 2023, ExtraEmily was banned on Twitch for 18 hours. This was later revealed to be due to her using her phone while driving. She released a similar statement then as well.

“I completely understand why I was banned because I was looking at my phone while driving and from that ban, I have learned from my mistake and I’m going to make sure I grow from it and not look at my phone ever again while streaming.”

Fans react to ExtraEmily's ban

While some fans think the ban was appropriate, others disagree, insinuating that all she got was a slap on the wrist for purposely endangering others. Some people were also unhappy with the nonchalance she showed in her Discord statement.

Not paying attention to the road while potentially putting bystanders at risk should warrant a longer ban. Twitch should look into not allowing driving while streaming.- on user said.
while another commented,- I mean twitch isn't law enforcement, y'all acting like they should just perma ban her lol
one person stated,- Gotta be more careful on the road, but glad she's staying positive!
While another quoted her,- Mishap? She says she does it all the time.

ExtraEmily has reportedly found herself in traffic-related mishaps more than once while live streaming. During a 2024 visit to New York City, she reportedy collided with a police vehicle while riding a rental bike — all captured live. A year earlier, in 2023, she was reportedly hit from behind while parked at a red light livestreaming.
