Live streamer and YouTuber Kai Cenat has taken a lot of heat over a recent viral video clip involving his frequent collaborator, the streamer Rakai. The clip, which shows Cenat filming a minor using a restroom, is being criticized by netizens who are calling Cenat out for flouting ethics when it comes to filming minors.
In the video clip, posted to X by a user on March 12, Cenat and two other people can be seen knocking on a bathroom door, asking the sixteen-year-old Rakai to open the door. Rakai shouts from inside, saying,
“N----a, I’m taking a sh-t.”
Quietly, Cenat and his friends pry the door open, revealing Rakai on the toilet. The friends then proceed to make fun of the young streamer. Continuing, the three friends, including Cenat, pick up a smartphone from the bathroom floor and continue laughing at Rakai, alluding to the content on his phone.
The X user who shared the clip commented on the dubious ethics of filming a minor using a bathroom and targeted Cenat, saying,
“Why did Kai Cenat do this?? This is actually disgusting. I hope Nike & Twitch see this also Rakai’s mother needs to take him away from them.”
In the caption, the X user refers to Nike’s partnership with Cenat, implying that the brand should look into its partnership with Cenat. In 2024, Cenat became the first streamer to partner with the sports brand, according to Complex.
Netizens and Cenat’s critics and fans were quick to join the debate in response to the clip. Many X users seemed to agree that posting a minor who is using the bathroom is problematic.
An X user heatedly responded to the debate, saying,
“this is absolutely disgusting!”
Another user chimed in, writing,
“this the weirdest sh*t i ever seen ngl.”
An X user remarking on the clip wrote,
“This is VILE.”
Another internet user, making comparisons with an alleged case involving another live-streamer, commented,
“Didn’t dr disrespect get banned for doing this exact thing but in a public bathroom?”
Netizens felt that while the filmed incident could have been planned in advance, it still didn’t make it okay for Cenat to violate the privacy of a minor for filming content.
A netizen took to X to write,
“This defo looks weird but it had to be scripted.”
Another netizen, similarly accepting the possibility of the moment being scripted, pointed to the problematic aspect of the entire episode. The user wrote on X,
“They are three grown men forcibly walking in on a 16-year-old. If scripted, they still teach kids watching that it's okay to enter a toilet uninvited, which it isn’t.”

Netizens defend Kai Cenat
Despite many netizens slamming Cenat and his friends for the video, some other fans and internet users felt that Cenat’s antics were brotherly and friendly.
An X user defended Cenat and emphasized the friendly nature of the video, writing,
“Yeah cause they messing around? Y’all must be young as sh-t cause before smartphones this is how we mess with each other. They good friends and to call someone a p-do cause of this when there’s far worse ppl out there is ridiculous”
Another netizen, adding to the debate, wrote,
“They like his older brother so ion see wrong with it. Yall done have siblings who f—k with yall?”
The theme of Kai Cenat, who recently completed a Batman: Arkham marathon live-stream, being brotherly towards Rakai, who he mentors, is prominent elsewhere too. In a popular stream posted by Cenat to YouTube three months ago, titled "i'm sending Rakai home...," he could be seen disciplining Rakai. A viewer took to the comments section of the stream to write,
“Kid is actually a decent and good dude. He’s being spoiled for the first time in his life and has older brothers. Just like most little brothers, they do too much just to act like the people they’re around. Kai built this dude like this. He just needs discipline.”

As of the writing of this article, neither Kai Cenat nor Rakai, who turned sixteen in November 2024, have responded to the controversy stoked by the video.
