Cindy informed the police a month later that her granddaughter had been missing. By then, they doubted Caylee was kidnapped by her babysitter. However, Casey Anthony was brought into custody on June 16, 2008. She was charged and arrested for lying and providing incorrect statements to the police. Not to mention, she was also charged with obstructing an investigation.
Being pronounced "a person of interest" in her two-year-old daughter's disappearance, Casey Anthony was finally charged with first-degree murder in October 2008. On December 11, 2008, Caylee's bones and other remains were discovered near her grandparents' house.
Casey's trial began on May 24, 2011, and after a two-month argument, the jury came to a verdict. Casey Anthony was acquitted.
