Taylor Swift seems have taken a little bit of a Instagram hit. According to an exclusive report by the New York Post, she has lost over 144,200 followers on the social media platform since Super Bowl LIX 2025. Many Swift fans have reportedly shared their opinions regarding the drop in followers.
New York Young Republican Club official, Alexis Winters, suggested that the singer's reduction in followers and the booing episode at the game indicated that she should stay in her lane, which is music. She noted that some people feel frustrated when celebrities share opinions on political issues that don’t personally affect them.
Swift currently has 282 million followers on Instagram. According to the media outlet, Winters said:
"Taylor Swift is simply the best example of this and her loss of hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers represents the hundreds of thousands of Americans who chose their president over the woke Hollywood mob."
On the other hand, content creator Sara Koger found it frustrating that people seem more interested in praising a man for dating a successful woman rather than celebrating the woman herself.
According to Koger, when Travis Kelce attended Swift’s concert, her fans cheered him on, but when Swift appeared on the big screen at the Super Bowl, she was met with boos, adding:
"I understand the demographic of the Super Bowl attendees are not fans of Taylor Swift, but the generalized hatred towards her for simply supporting her boyfriend is uncalled for and gross."
Taylor Swift said she turned off the comments on social media
In 2019, Taylor Swift shared 30 important learning takeaways with Elle magazine before her 30th birthday. She wrote that it was important to forgive herself for making mistakes, whether for choosing the wrong path, trusting the wrong person, or experiencing failure in front of others. However, concerning her experience on social media platforms, she said:
“I learned to block some of the noise. Social media can be great, but it can also inundate your brain with images of what you aren’t, how you’re failing, or who is in a cooler locale than you at any given moment. One thing I do to lessen this weird insecurity laser beam is to turn off comments. Yes, I keep comments off on my posts.”
Swift shared that she had learned to post updates for her friends and fans without relying on online validation. She trained herself not to seek approval through compliments and also shielded herself from hurtful comments.
She believed that relying less on internet praise was better for self-esteem, especially since just a few comments down, she might come across negative remarks, like one she once received comparing her appearance to a poorly restored animal.
Taylor Swift reflected on the importance of removing unnecessary drama from life. She realized that energy and time were limited, so it was essential to be selective about who deserved them.
According to the magazine, for too long, Taylor Swift allowed strangers' views to influence her perspective on relationships, whether about who they thought suited her or what they considered "relationship goals" based on social media. Over time, she understood that those perceptions were not real and needed to develop her standards for what truly mattered to her.
