Actress Christina Fulton opened up about her son, Weston Cage’s struggle with mental health crisis in an exclusive interview with TMZ on April 2, 2025. Per the news outlet, she was at the court to read the victim impact statement.
For context, in April 2024, Weston allegedly attacked Fulton following an altercation after which he was arrested. When TMZ asked about what message she would like to send to her son and ex-husband, Nicolas Cage, Fulton said:
“I said in the court. I love you, son. Take care of my son, our son.”
When asked about the court proceedings, Christina Fulton expressed relief that the judge placed Weston in a mental health program, saying she was glad he would receive help. She also shared that she read her statement in court, which her son heard for the first time.
Emotionally, she admitted feeling heartbroken and expressed love for Weston. When asked if he had apologized, she said he showed no remorse or accountability.
The reporter asked if she was aware of the kind of help Weston would get, and Christina Fulton replied in the negative. However, she felt the LAPD could have done a lot more to help during the time of the alleged assault, adding:
“I called them and I needed them. I called 911. Many people called 911. We all asked for help. When you got there, you left me on the ground bleeding out of my eyes, needing ambulance, needing help. I needed an ambulance. I needed medical attention."
She went on:
"So, you know, when you can call 911, you are supposed to help. You have to help the victim. You have to help the person that’s having the mental breakdown.”
Christina Fulton also submitted a court filing against Nicolas Cage
Fulton emphasized her dedication to police reform, stating that she wanted to make a difference. She believed strong women and mothers like her needed to step up and bring change. Discussing the issue further, she stressed the importance of law enforcement being trained to assist victims, especially those requiring immediate help.
In a court filing from February 2025, Christina Fulton claimed that Nicolas Cage did not step in to help their son, despite knowing about his history of mental health struggles and violent behavior. She alleged that Cage was aware of Weston’s past incidents involving assault and battery but failed to take action to prevent further harm.
The lawsuit argued that Cage should have recognized the potential danger his son posed to others, including Fulton, given his documented history of violence, substance abuse, and mental instability. Cage denied the claims, calling them baseless. In a statement, he emphasized that Weston is an adult and that he has no control over his actions or any alleged incidents involving his mother.
Christina Fulton recounted an incident from April 28, 2024, when she received urgent messages from Weston’s friends about his worsening mental state. She rushed to help him but found him in a manic state.
She stated that she was violently attacked and suffered serious injuries. Despite pleading with responding officers to detain Weston for a mental health evaluation, Christina Fulton claimed they ignored her request and failed to provide her with medical assistance.
