Rosie O'Donnell has officially left the U.S. and settled in Ireland. The comedian and former talk show host shared the news on TikTok.
Rosie O'Donnell recently surprised fans with an announcement that she has moved to Ireland with her youngest child, Clay. In a TikTok video posted on March 11, 2025, the 62-year-old comedian confirmed that she relocated on January 15, 2025, and is now in the process of obtaining Irish citizenship owing to her Irish grandparents, ABC News reports.
Pop Crave took to its official X (formerly Twitter) page to share:
"Rosie O’ Donnell reveals she left the US on January 15 and now lives in Ireland."
Rosie O'Donnell said she is 'very grateful' to the people of Ireland
Per ABC News, in the TikTok video, Rosie O'Donnell stated:
"I'm here in Ireland, and it's beautiful and warm – not physically, it's actually quite cold. Moved here on Jan. 15, and it's been pretty wonderful, I have to say. The people are so loving and so kind, so welcoming, and I'm very grateful."
She continued:
"Although I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that's what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child... It's been heartbreaking to see what's happening politically and hard for me personally, as well. The personal is political, as we all know... I miss my other kids. I miss my friends. I miss many things about life there at home. And I'm trying to find a home here in this beautiful country."
Addressing her fans, Rosie O'Donnell stated:
"I'm sorry for those of you who are worried and who missed me. I just felt like we needed to take care of ourselves and make some hard decisions and follow through. And now, as we're getting settled, I was ready to post this and to tell everybody what's been going on."
In addition to her move, Rosie O'Donnell revealed that she is considering quitting TikTok, reports suggest. Instead, she is exploring Substack as an alternative platform but is struggling with the learning curve. Rosie joked:
"If the Substack people are listening, you really need a more user-friendly app."
It should be noted that Rosie O'Donnell is not the only celebrity who has recently left the United States. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi moved to the U.K. after expressing dissatisfaction with Donald Trump's re-election, reports suggest.
Whether this relocation is temporary or a long-term one remains to be seen. For now, Ireland is Rosie O'Donnell's home.
