Pop’s favorite heartbreak poet Olivia Rodrigo is currently in her vacay era, much to the playful frustration of fans eagerly (and impatiently) awaiting her Album No. 3.
On April 21, the singer took to Instagram to share a series of snaps from her sun-baked Morocco trip, where she cheekily addressed the elephant in the room:
“everywhere but that damn studio”
Rodrigo hasn’t released an album since her groundbreaking 2023 album Guts, which shot straight to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart upon release — and her latest update feels like a well-timed tease for fans who’ve been begging for new material.
Even without the sassy caption, her IG post (consisting of glam self-portraits, marketplace trinkets, souvenirs, and a snake charmer cameo) makes it obvious that she’s on her soft girl, happier arc — and we love that for her.
Fans clamor for Olivia Rodrigo’s new album: “My patience is in hell.”
Olivia Rodrigo’s cheeky message quickly fueled a flurry of reactions across social media. Over on X (formerly Twitter), devoted stans didn't hold back as they begged for the deja vu songstress’ new music.
“Olivia’s in Morocco, while we’re all still waiting for her next masterpiece. Maybe the next song is coming from the desert?” @SheKnowsScience joked.
“She’s in Morocco. My patience is in hell. Olivia, we supported the eras, the heartbreak, the eyeliner. Now give us the tracks. Please,” pleaded @anandvijay123.
“Take your time queen, but we’re ready whenever you are!” @ad0orable_ added.
“WHERE IS THE ALBUM RELEASE THE DAMN ALBUM,” @SEQUENCE05 demanded in all caps.
“GUTS was in 2023 don't tell you still hadn't started that damn album,” @Pikachu__016 cried (with crying emojis, of course).
“gurl you ain't funny. go and make music, stop playing with us,” @KarmaIsAFad said.
Olivia Rodrigo swaps studio for souks, but new music hints linger
While Rodrigo’s recent Moroccan escape leaves fans side-eyeing her for dodging the studio, there’s still hope on the horizon for OR3.
Back in March, the vampire hitmaker subtly dropped her whereabouts with a photo of a studio, featuring keyboards and a guitar in hand. Naturally, it was something that didn’t go unnoticed by eagle-eyed fans.
Further, in 2023, Rodrigo assured that songwriting remains a constant in her life, even mid-tour.
“Writing songs is really therapeutic for me, so I’m always noodling around making stuff even when I’m not in the studio making an album.”
She also hinted that a bit of R&R was the plan once her Guts World Tour ends.
“I’m definitely going to take a little vacation after this tour though! I’m trying not to put too much pressure on anything right now.”
Olivia Rodrigo’s Instagram update comes after captivating Mexico's Estadio GNP Seguros crowd of 65,000, her biggest concert to date in early April. She has spent much of the spring touring Latin America, with performances in Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia, all while keeping fans guessing when the next heartbreak anthem might finally drop.
