YouTuber and online streamer IShowSpeed responded to his friends posting old TikTok videos of them together. As seen in an X video by “@CvaultsEra,” the streamer went through the videos in which his friends expressed that they grew apart after Speed became successful in his career. He reacted:

“See you know what? I hate when people do this bro, like that. My Mom kicked me out of the house when I was 14 and these pictures I was like, you know, like 12 or 11.”

One X user commented:

"I know if they actually kept in contact speed wouldn't ego them. Not real friends.”

The photos showed IShowSpeed and his friend posing for a selfie captioned:

“How tf we went from 2/2.”

The next transition was a video of Speed with cash in his hand, captioned:

“To 1/1.”

IShowSpeed wondered how his friends managed to get those photos. However, after seeing the transition video and the caption, he reacted:

“Pictures right there, I was like 14. My Mom kicked me out of my house at 14. I moved in with my dad. I moved to Michigan. I was lonely. I was depressed. Nobody text or call me. The people in these pictures didn’t text or call me. I was just focused on YouTube.”

Speed mentioned he felt lonely as he had no friends after he moved in with his father.

Netizens supported IShowSpeed suggesting his friends should have stayed in touch with him

Social media users reacted to IShowSpeed’s response to his friends’ TikTok video. Many wrote that it was common for people to desert someone but congratulate them once they became successful. Netizens opined that since they didn’t support IShowSpeed at his lowest, they don’t deserve him at his best.

“People always do this. Ignore you when you need someone. Then try to leech off of you when you make it,” a netizen suggested.
“They should've stayed in touch. They wouldn't even be doing all this if Speed wasn't rich,” a social media user reacted.
“If they weren't with him at his lowest then they don't deserve him at his best,” a person wrote.

Online commentators called it dramatic and said it was the reality of the society:

“Sounds like a classic case of 'I got famous and forgot my homies' drama. Maybe they just need to up their TikTok game to keep up with you,” an online user pointed out.
“This is the reality every where... Nobody cares until you are Famous and Rich,” another X user remarked.
“So reach out to people in need because you might miss out on a good friendship,” an internet user advised.

IShowSpeed’s streaming journey began with only a handful of viewers

During an interview with Forbes in 2024, IShowSpeed reflected on his journey as a streamer. Streaming from his bedroom in Cincinnati, Ohio, Speed started his journey with only a few viewers watching him play games like FIFA, NBA 2K, and Fortnite.

In the early days, he had just one or two viewers, but as the weeks passed, that number gradually grew. As more people tuned in, he realized streaming could lead to something bigger, and the enjoyment of it kept him going. He said his content was completely spontaneous, with unexpected moments unfolding naturally. About his experience, he said:

“I have been doing this for five years now. I feel like a veteran. It feels like I'm getting older. But I want to keep going higher, and I will.”

By 2023, IShowSpeed expanded beyond his bedroom and began traveling internationally, taking his streams to a global audience. What started as a casual trip to Europe unexpectedly turned into a full-fledged tour. Encouraged by its success, he later embarked on a Southeast Asia tour in 2024, which became a major turning point in his career.

While streaming in Indonesia, he reached a milestone, with over one million concurrent viewers on a single live stream. Overwhelmed with emotion, he saw it as a personal achievement, a goal that many streamers dream of, without collaborations or special events.
