Nintendo Switch 2 will start at $449 in the U.S., pre-orders go live April 24

Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders will go live on April 24, 2025, starting at $449 in the United States.

Nintendo on Friday announced it will be releasing its Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders for the same will start from April 24, while the product will go on sale starting June 5, 2025. The starting price for the gaming device is $449 in the United States. However, it is subject to increase according to added services and accessories.

Nintendo took to their website to announce price changes to the accessories due to market changes however, the price of the Switch 2 is to remain the same.

"Nintendo Switch 2 accessories will experience price adjustments from those announced on April 2 due to changes in market conditions. Other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions."

The original pre-order date, which was supposed to be April 9, was also changed due to the tariff policy changes President Donald Trump was making earlier this month. Nintendo's products were manufactured in Asia. The Switch 1 was reportedly made in China and Vietnam. Due to recent declarations, the President has imposed a 145% tariff rate on China and a 10% rate on Vietnam, hence causing the price changes.

In their statement, Nintendo also apologised for their delay,

"We apologize for the retail pre-order delay, and hope this reduces some of the uncertainty our customers may be experiencing. We thank our customers for their patience, and we share their excitement to experience Nintendo Switch 2 starting June 5, 2025."

Retailer Best Buy has announced they will start taking pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 console, and its accessories on April 24, as well as for the first time in 6 years, they will open most of their stores at midnight for the official launch day, June 5.
