Internet personalities YesJulz and DJ Akademiks have been involved in a heated exchange on X. For those unversed, the war of words began after YesJulz threw shade at the hip-hop journalist for not knowing who Filthy was.
Akademiks reportedly claimed that Kendrick Lamar, who featured on three tracks in Carti’s I AM MUSIC album, was the creative director of the musical project. Filthy, who is renowned for producing the rapper’s eponymous 2017 mixtape, quickly debunked the on-air personality’s claims in a tweet:
“Kendrick fam, but he is NOT the creative director of this album. This Carti album.”
The podcaster reacted to the tweet:
“No disrespect to Filthy. I don’t know who the f*** Filthy is. Kendrick is on the album whether it’s creative director or executive producer idgaf, I’m only going off with what Carti told me.”
DJ Akademiks’ flippant dismissal of Filthy as someone he didn’t know in the industry didn’t sit right with several netizens. Multiple X users called out the podcaster and live streamer and requested that he research Filthy’s rap discography.
Among those who tweeted about the issue was YesJulz. She stated:
“Not knowing Filthy is one of Carti’s main collaborators in 2025 as a journalist covering hip-hop is surely one way to admit that you suck at your job.”
DJ Akademiks replied to YesJulz using derogatory words and expletives:
"That f*cking wh*re Yesjulz... you spent half your f*cking life on your knees... how dare you talk to me, you done s*cked up half the industry..."
The artist and Internet personality clapped back at DJ Akademiks:
"Mans been on his knees for Drake all year and can’t actually name one person I’ve been with in the industry, but I’m the wh**e?"
Netizens react to DJ Akademiks and YesJulz back and forth on X
Some X users expressed confusion over DJ Akademiks’ foul language:
“So he responded politely to Carti producer Filthy after he pressed him about saying Kendrick directed the album, but as soon as a woman addressed him about something he went off the hook crazy. What a Beta!!!” @vs2024pg stated.
“He only have this kinda energy for women,” @DaRealSkeet noted.
“Lol, why is he so angry?” @I_amZackk asked.
“Why bro going off like this?” @YoungHDM tweeted.
“He always has all this smoke for women,” @Jmichelle555 noted.
