Singer and pop artist Madonna, among other celebrities, has been vocal about electoral decisions and rights. On February 21, she penned down a note on X in response to a new post by The White House.
The official account of The White House posted an AI-generated picture of President Donald Trump wearing a crown with a background of the city. The post reads a message by the President while describing himself as a "KING." Additionally, the picture features a proclamation,
"LONG LIVE THE KING."
Soon after the post went viral on social media, Madonna shared a post on X. Madonna posted a picture of herself with a caption that appeared to be critical of The White House's post and the President's choice of words. The singer (@Madonna) posed with a somber expression and noted,
"I thought this country was built by Europeans, escaping living under the rule of a King, to establish a New World governed by the people. Currently, we have a president who calls Himself. Our King If this is a joke, I'm not laughing."
Per Independent, the post has received backlash from other celebrities, including writer Stephen King.
More about Madonna's advocacy and philanthropy

Over time, the "Material Girl" singer has encouraged her fans to vote and has advocated the rights of marginalized communities. The singer has been previously awarded the Advocate for Change at the GLADD Media Awards in 2019 for her advocacy of LGBTQI+ rights, and was described by GLADD Media as "the LGBTQ community’s greatest ally."
More recently, the singer spoke in response to negative comments about her appearance at the 2025 Grammy Awards. The singer noted that she finds herself caught in the "glare" of "ageism and misogyny" which "permeates the world." She added,
"A world that refuses to celebrate women past the age of 45 and feels the need to punish her if she continues to be strong willed, hard-working and adventurous.”
