Atlanta-based rapper Lil Baby is at the center of a legal storm following reports of wiretap evidence allegedly linking him to murder-for-hire schemes. The controversy has raised significant concerns about the validity of the evidence and the credibility of key figures involved in the case.
The issue centers on gang investigator Marissa Viverito, a big name in criminal probes. According to Hypefresh, she reportedly showed the court wiretap evidence, claiming the rapper had put bounties on people. This raises questions about whether such evidence is legal. Past cases like United States v. Crabtree show that courts can't use evidence from illegal wiretaps. If the American rapper's case faces similar issues, it could weaken the prosecution's case. Viverito has been involved in several high-profile cases, including the Young Slime Life (YSL) trial.
Lil Baby faces allegations amid ongoing investigation
Lil Baby, whose real name is Dominique Armani Jones, faces accusations as his legal troubles have started to overshadow his music. Investigators say they've accessed communications that hint at his role in putting bounties on people.
Adding to the controversy, Lil Baby’s name was allegedly mentioned during a law enforcement briefing in February 2025 regarding escalating gang violence in Atlanta.
According to Hypefresh, the Atlanta Police Department did not specifically name him, but Homicide Commander Ralph Woolfolk referenced a rapper suspected of fueling tensions between rival gangs. This statement fueled rumors, particularly in connection with the tragic deaths of 13-year-olds Jakody Davis and Lamon Freeman in July 2024.
Right now, there's no clear proof that the rapper is connected to those events. While this investigation is still open, there hasn't been solid evidence yet connecting him to the violence.
