On March 20, 2025, South Korean media Naver reported that Kim Soo-hyun’s entertainment agency, GOLD MEDALIST, has filed a criminal lawsuit against Garosero Research Institute and late Kim Sae-ron’s family.
The agency declared the filing of a criminal lawsuit against YouTuber Kim Se-ui along with people known to be Kim Sae-ron's relatives. These charges included breaking the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of S*xual Crimes. They specifically covered the release of materials captured with a camera without permission to do so.
The allegation came out from recent details shared by the Garosero Research Institute. The content shared by the channel also included Soo-hyun's photo without pants, supposedly at Sae-ron's house.
"GOLD MEDALIST, as the agency managing actor Kim Soo Hyun, has filed a criminal complaint against Kim Sae-eui, the operator of the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as ‘Garo Sero’), who posted a photo of actor Kim Soo Hyun taken with his pants down during a live broadcast on his YouTube channel today.
The agency further stated that the matter won’t be overlooked.
The criminal complaint is also pertaining to the bereaved family of the late actress Kim Sae Ron and an unidentified individual claiming to be Kim Sae Ron’s aunt, who allegedly provided the photo to Kim Sae-eui, leading him to post it. The charges include violations of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes (distribution of footage filmed using cameras, etc.)."
Garosero Research Institute unveiled the alleged secret relationship of Kim Soo-hyun and late Kim Sae-ron
On March 10, 2025, Kim Sae-ron's aunt claimed on the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute that the two had been in a relationship for six years, commencing when Sae-ron was 15 and the actor was 27.
She additionally asserted that GOLD MEDALIST had initially disbursed 700 million KRW to compensate for damages arising from Sae-ron’s DUI (driving under influence) incident in 2022.
Later, in 2024, the agency demanded complete repayment via legal action in 2024. The family said the actress lost her life to financial stress.
Furthermore, the Garosero Research Institute released multiple images, claiming that these constituted evidence supporting the charges. The pictures featured an image of a guy, believed to be Kim Soo-hyun, partially unclothed while carrying out dishwashing duties at Sae-ron's residence.
The GOLD MEDALIST said that Soo-hyun and Sae-ron had previously been in a relationship. The agency rejected the claim that Kim Sae-ron was a juvenile and said the relationship began in 2019.
On March 17, 2025, Sae-ron's family filed a defamation action against a YouTuber, Lee Jin-ho after he asserted that the deceased actress fabricated details regarding her connection with Kim Soo-hyun. The actress’s family additionally requested an apology from Soo-hyun's representatives.
The feud between Kim Soo-hyun and the actress's family has increased owing to accusations, legal actions, and public revelations. The matter came to light shortly after Kim Sae-ron's demise on February 16, 2025.
Kim Soo-hyun is facing problems amid the ongoing tensions as the several brands have terminated their endorsement deals with him. Brands like Prada, DINTO, CUCKOO China, EIDER, and more are ending their partnership with the star.
