Kelly Clarkson is in a good place — literally and figuratively.
The Grammy-winning artist took the stage at Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena in Atlantic City on May 10, delivering an unforgettable performance filled with powerhouse vocals and her signature down-to-earth charm.
As she belted out hits like Since U Been Gone and her latest release, Where Have You Been, Clarkson also shared some candid and relatable moments with the audience.
During the show, an audience member complimented Clarkson on her “sexy” appearance, a nod to her recent weight loss. The singer appreciated the gesture but couldn’t help but joke about how she handles compliments on her NBC talk show.
“Every time I go to an HR meeting, I’m like, ‘How have I not been fired?’ I grew up on the road at 19 years old, you know what I’m saying? I’m like, ‘Oh, that is inappropriate. I would never.’”
Kelly Clarkson trolls restrictions on commenting about others’ appearances with a hilarious HR story
During Kelly Clarkson’s Hard Rock Live show, she launched into a playful rant about the restrictions on commenting on others' appearances. She teased:
“But they also say you’re not allowed to say someone looks attractive, and I say f*** that. Because some of those bitches are out here working, and we’re trying, and I want every motherf***** that passes me to go, ‘Damn. Well done.’”
Clarkson even recounted an amusing interaction with an HR rep.
“I nearly got in a fight with an HR representative over the topic. They were like, ‘Well, it might make people feel bad that they looked bad before.’ I was fat before, so I’m saying I want you to say, ‘Damn.’”

However, she was quick to clarify that there’s no judgment on anyone’s body, adding that she “felt very confident” at a higher weight.
“There’s nothing wrong with anyone’s bodies.”
The Because of You singer wrapped up the lighthearted exchange with the fan by joking:
“I will not be calling HR about this interaction. It is not a joke. I know HR is not a joke, but it is really funny some of the things they talk about, and we’re like, ‘Oh no. We would never.’”
Kelly Clarkson expresses gratitude for live performance opportunity at Atlantic City Show
Before jumping into My Life Would Suck Without You, Clarkson expressed gratitude for the opportunity to perform live.
“We love the talk show, but we usually don’t get to do shows because of the schedule, so thank you so much. It’s cool. It’s only like two hours away from home in New York City.”
Kelly Clarkson’s concert was a reminder that she’s not just a singer: she’s a relatable, down-to-earth star who's never afraid to share her real, raw thoughts with fans.
Meanwhile, other big names will soon be performing at the Hard Rock Live, including Heart, Khalid, and Erykah Badu.
